Review from Gloria Marr
Roadshow Entertainment---“ Two Men in China”
Having missed this really interesting program when it was on the ABC recently, it was great to find it was on offer for our competitions for June.
John Doyle and Tim Flannery have made a number of these amusing and entertaining adventures together, and this latest one exploring various cities in China is full of terrific sightseeing, and lots of facts and figures, too many to list..
They talk with many top business people especially Australians working in China as well as local inhabitants.
They travel around via car, motor bike with sidecar, on foot, as well as little local runabouts, and they dine on some very strange food, some appealing, some not.
Cities they visit are Beijing, Shanghai, and Chengdu.
Whilst we get some knowledge of life in China, and the situation re our exports to China, which is mainly iron ore, they also touch on what is the state of our relationship
with China ? We hear about China’s problems with pollution; really bad in Beijing,
Five million cars in China, population in Shanghai is 23 million! Just amazing, and 19 million in Chengdu. The population in all China is 70 times that of Australia. Their building rate is enormous and seemily nonstop.
There are plenty of very funny quips throughout this adventure, which I would call, a sort of amusing travell documentary, and we get quite an insight into these three enormous cities.
Three episodes on this fantastic release, a really enjoyable CD. Runs for Approx 185 Mins.
