Celebrate 10 years with Thirsty Merc

ANNIVERSARY: Rai Thistlethwayte, Phil Stack and Matt Smith from Thirsty Merc will tour in October.

TEN years ago, Thirsty Merc gave Australians 20 good reasons for them to love a little Dubbo band.

In 2004, Thirsty Merc, led by Rai Thistlethwayte and featuring Phil Stack, Karl Robertson and Matthew Baker, released their debut LP featuring the song which took them to number one in the Australian music charts, 20 Good Reasons.

"I can't believe its been 10 years since we released our debut," Thistlethwayte said.

"We want to say a really big thanks to our fans. They've been amazing."

To celebrate the milestone, Thistlethwayte, Stack, Robertson and Matt Smith, who filled Baker's absence in 2010, announced they would release an acoustic anniversary album.

Additionally, the band will tour the country throughout October.

The national tour will stop at Wests New Lambton on Wednesday, October 22.

"This Merc-tober we'll play this album live on tour and throw in a few newbies too," Thistlethwayte said.

The anniversary album will the the fourth studio release following Thirsty Merc (2004), Slideshows (2007) and Mousetrap Heart (2010).

It will feature a collection of acoustic interpretations of fan favourites including 20 Good Reasons, In the Summertime, Someday Someday and Mousetrap Heart.

Tickets to the Wests New Lambton show, available from ProTicket or by phoning 4935 1200, cost $49.
