Dog Day Afternoon is the iconic 1975 film about a hold-up and hostage-taking at a New York City bank; Al Pacino’s antihero perpetrates the disastrous heist in order to pay for his gay lover’s sex-change operation. John Wojtowicz, the real-life “Dog,” steals every scene in this portrait of his life. The Dog captures Wojtowicz telling his story in his own unique, offensive, hilarious and heartbreaking way.
