    Once upon a time in a desert in the west,

    a Little Girl Giant fell from the sky into one of those

    communities in love with the stars, the earth,

    the trees, the water.

    One day, she found an old book full of love and

    sorrow, hope and lost battles. The Little Girl Giant

    knew then what she had to do.

    With a tear in her eye, she climbed aboard her

    boat and set sail across the sand for the big city...

The Incredible and Phenomenal Journey of The Giants to the Streets of Perth – the biggest event in Australia commemorating WW1 – will open the 2015 Perth International Arts Festival (13 February – 7 March 2015). Taking inspiration from Western Australian stories, ancient lands and Gallipoli-bound troops, The Giants will immerse audiences in a modern-day fable, over three memorable days. Royal de Luxe has brought the inimitable humanity of The Giants to awe-struck audiences around the world for special events including:

    'Le rendez-vous de Berlin' (Berlin appointment) in Berlin, 2009 for the 20 year commemoration of the fall of the Wall;
    'L’invitation' (The invitation) in Santiago of Chile, 2010 for the Bicentenary of Independence and 200 years of Chilean theatre;
    'Le Scaphandrier, sa main et la Petite Géante' (The deep-sea diver, his hand and the Little Girl Giant) in Antwerp, 2010 for the festival Zomer van Antwerpen;
    'Le Géant de Guadalajara' (The Giant of Guadalajara) in Guadalajara, Mexico, 2010 for the Centenary of Revolution and the Bicentenary of Independence; and
    'L’Odyssée de la mer' (Sea Odyssey) in Liverpool, 2012 for the 100th commemoration of the sinking of the Titanic.

The Giants will surprise you each day. The story begins on Friday 13 February and as the Giants walk the streets of Perth, they will become part of the city and include audiences in the spectacle. On Saturday, the story – and the theatre – continues, until Sunday when audiences come together for the finale.

In what promises to be an epic event, no two days will be the same. To ensure you don’t miss a minute, you need to be in Perth on 13, 14 and 15 February. And you could be.
The Competition

To celebrate this exciting event, RN, in partnership with Perth International Arts Festival is giving you and a guest the opportunity to win a trip to see The Giants in February 2015. The trip includes:

    Return flights to Perth from your nearest capital city
    Four nights accommodation (12, 13, 14 and 15 February 2015)
    The opportunity to wander the streets of Perth with the Giants
    A double pass to Festival Eve (watch Spoon perform live at the Chevron Festival Gardens on Thursday 12 February)
    A double pass to the world premiere performance on The Rabbits (presented in collaboration with Barking Gecko Theatre Company and Opera Australia on Friday 13 February)
