Tom Ballard: Taxis & Rainbows & Hatred


Former triple j breakfast guy and host of ABC TV’s Reality Check, Tom Ballard is heading back to the Adelaide Fringe. His new hour of stand-up about something bad and weird that happened to him in a taxi.

Ballard is a 24-year-old comedy veteran. At 16, he was a finalist in the nationwide Raw Comedy competition. At 19 he took on the Triple J Breakfast Shift and premiered his first full-length show, winning Melbourne Comedy Festival’s Best Newcomer Award.

Tom now sells out theatres across the country, has played the invitation only Just for Laughs Festival in Montreal, taken out the ARIA Award for Best Comedy Release and supported the likes of Stephen Merchant and Wil Anderson, who describes him as “one of the most original, fearless and hilarious voices in Australian comedy”. That’s pretty good.
