Style is looking for the next BIG idea, backed by someone who wants to take on Brisbane – and the world. If you think you’ve got Style + Substance, we’ll give you the kick-start you need with the chance to win $10,000 towards bringing your idea to life! Whether you’re a startup, entrepreneur or charity, this is your opportunity!

THE PROCESS

NOMINATE NOW:

Nominate yourself or a friend to go into the draw to win the coveted title of Brisbane’s most Stylish + Substantial below. All nominations will be reviewed by the Style team, and the Mentor Panel (see below), and four of the most deserving finalists will be chosen. Nominations close COB Monday August 17, 2015.




VOTE FOR THE WINNER:

The finalists will be announced on Monday August 24, and the Brisbane public will vote for who they think deserves to win!
Finalists can encourage their friends, family and customers to vote for them.
The finalist with the most votes will be crowned with the Style + Substance title!
Votes close Monday September 14, 2015.
THE MENTOR PANEL

Style has rounded up some of Brisbane’s most influential business people, creatives and entrepreneurs to help us find the Style + Substance finalists. Not only will your idea be in front of some of the best minds in the biz, the winner will have the chance to sit down with the mentor of their choice and pick their brains over lunch:

KERRIE HESS, ILLUSTRATOR

Kerrie Hess is an Australian fashion illustrator, who has recently relocated back to her hometown of Brisbane. With watercolour as her medium, Kerrie’s fluid, feminine and internationally-adored artworks have been commissioned for the likes of Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Vogue.

BEN JOHNSTON, JOSEPHMARK

Ben Johnston is the Co-Founder of Josephmark, a Brisbane-based but globally-connected creative agency. Dividing his time between Brisbane and the US, Ben and Josephmark has amassed a list of enviable clients and projects, including music site We Are Hunted and the re-design of MySpace.

SARAH TIMMERMAN, BEGINNING BOUTIQUE

Sarah Timmerman is the Founder and Director of online fashion store, Beginning Boutique. The brand is backed by a large social media following, and continues to be one of Australia’s fastest-growing e-commerce platforms.

 

PAUL JOHNSTON, STYLE MAGAZINES

Paul Johnston is the Managing Editor and Owner of Style Magazines. Starting his career in magazines over 25 years ago, Paul has worked as a Travel Editor and News and Sports Editor at TNT Magazine in London and as Art Director at Woman’s Day NZ, before co-founding Style at his kitchen table in 2001.

Must be 18 years or over
You or your business must be located in the Greater Brisbane region (including Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast).
You must be willing to supply at least one photo (taken within the last 12 months).
You must provide social business URLs or business address.
You must be available on for associated competition events and photoshoots.
You must be willing to participate in a police check, and must not currently be bankrupt or filing for bankruptcy.
