The 2016 Spanish Film Festival evokes a wealth of emotions with dramas, romances, thrillers and major box-office hit comedies from across Spain, plus a selection of gems from Latin America.

Following on from last year’s festival opener comes Spanish Affair 2, the second instalment of the record-breaking Spanish Affair, with its playful take on the tensions between Spain’s regions, will open this year’s festival with more laughs and new twists to the relationship saga.

Other festival highlights include Truman, the much-anticipated new film from Cesc Gay, the director of A Gun In Each Hand.

Truman stars two of the greatest talents in modern Spanish cinema – Ricardo Darín (Wild Tales, The Secret in Their Eyes, Nine Queens) and Javier Cámara (Living is Easy With Eyes Closed, Talk to Her, I’m So Excited).

The Spanish Film Festival runs from April 19 to May 8, at Palace Barracks and Palace Centro cinemas in Brisbane.
