ONE of the world’s most loved Michael Jackson tribute shows, HIStory, will return to Australian shores this year with a revamped production and new star.

The Michael Jackson HIStory Show celebrates the music, the magic and all the history that is attached to the King of Pop.

Since its re-launch in 2015, HIStory has toured around the globe.

The show will visit 14 Australian metropolitan and regional locations throughout June and July, including Newcastle Civic Theatre on June 22.

Headlining the show is the world’s premier Michael Jackson impersonators, Dantanio. Born to a Gospel family, Dantanio began singing and dancing at the age of nine, developing a vocal repertoire spanning pop, R’n’B, swing, jazz and reggae.

As a skilled impersonator specialising in Jackson and Sammy Davis Jr, Dantanio has travelled the world.

In 2014 the coveted part of Michael Jackson opened up in one of the world’s biggest tribute shows – Showtime Management’s The Michael Jackson HIStory Show. Dantanio was scouted by the show’s director to fill the challenging role.

Dantanio felt an affinity with Jackson at an early age.

His appreciation of Jackson’s dancing evolved into obsessive practice as he taught himself to emulate every detail of the pop star’s trademark dance style.

Coming full circle from his beginnings as an inspired young MJ fan, Dantanio looks forward to honouring his idol with his role in HIStory.

Backed by a band of talented musicians, choreographed dancers, authentic costumes and brilliant effects, Dantanio sensationally recreates pop history.

HIStory journeys through Jackson’s vast catalogue of work including his beginnings as a member of Jackson 5, his groundbreaking theatrics in the 80s and his evolution onwards into the 21st century.

More than 20 songs will be performed live by Dantanio including ABC, Ben, Smooth Criminal and Beat It.

The newly revamped production stays mostly true to its original concert format that has toured since 2011 but now combines Jackson’s greatest hits with refined choreography, updated costumes and innovative new production elements – making the show a fresh experience for all.
