Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Whit Stillman (Metropolitan, The Last Days of Disco) presents Love & Friendship: An exquisite comedy of matchmaking and heartbreak adapted from Jane Austen’s early novella Lady Susan.

Starring Kate Beckinsale, Chloë Sevigny, Tom Bennet, and Australia’s Xavier Samuel in his first romantic lead role, Love & Friendship is set in the 1790s, and concerns beautiful young widow Susan Vernon who has come to Churchill, the estate of her in-laws, to wait out colourful rumours about her dalliances circulating through polite society.

Love & Friendship is witty, with wickedly humorous quickfire dialogue providing refreshing appeal to this beautiful costume drama. It has all the things you would expect from an Austen adaptation: romance, beautiful period costumes and settings, as well as plenty of gossip and drama.

Love & Friendship hits Australian cinemas July 21, but we have 10 double passes to give away to Style readers for a preview screening on Wednesday, July 20 at Palace Barracks cinemas at 6.30pm thanks to Transmission Films.
