Love & Friendship is an adaptation of Jane Austen’s novella, Lady Susan. Set in the 1790s, earlier than most Austen novels, Love & Friendship tells the tale of beautiful young widow Susan Vernon (Kate Beckinsale) who has come to Churchill, the estate of her in-laws, to wait out colourful rumours about her dalliances circulating through polite society. Whilst ensconced there, she decides to secure a husband for herself and for her daughter, Frederica (Morfydd Clark). She enlists the assistance of her old friend Alicia (Chloë Sevigny), but two particularly handsome suitors complicate her orchestrations.

Love & Friendship includes all the things you would expect from an Austen adaptation – romance, beautiful period costumes and settings, as well as plenty of gossip and drama – however, expect witty, wickedly humorous quick fire dialogue to add a refreshing edge.

Starring Kate Beckinsale, Chloë Sevigny, Stephen Fry and Australian Xavier Samuel in his first romantic lead role.
