Australia Cooks edited by Kelli Brett is a glorious cookbook dedicated to the three crucial ingredients – people, place and produce – that make our food culture our very own. It's a collection of recipes from around Australia designed by locals and made with the produce found locally. Add in the stories and background information on the places and people and you have a treasure chest that every foodie will want.

When the call went out on ABC's 52 local radio stations around the country for foodies to design dishes that defined their region to a plate, the question behind the scenes was 'do Australians actually still cook?'. When the entries came in the answer was 'hell yes!'.

As Kelli says in her introduction, 'the making of this book has left us in no doubt that Australians are wanting to know the stories behind the food that they eat. The recipes in this book have an emphasis on fresh flavours and simplicity.... they are all delicious and truly demonstrate that we are a nation that loves to cook.'

There is simply no doubt that the food culture in regional Australia is flourishing. From Capricornia to Tasmania, the Kimberley to the Hunter, our food growers and artisans supply us with some of the best produce the world has to offer. And we're loving it!

Over 60 recipes come from home cooks but there are an additional 20 stories and recipes from chefs who have built their businesses on championing home-grown produce.
