An incredibly moving and powerful film, I, Daniel Blake, follows the 59-year-old Daniel Blake who finds himself inadvertently fighting for the disenfranchised after nearly falling from a scaffold and suffering a heart attack.

Now, for the first time ever, he needs help from the state.

Daniel crosses paths with a single mother Katie and her two young children, Daisy and Dylan.

Katie’s only chance to escape a one-roomed homeless hostel in London has been to accept a flat in a city she doesn’t know, some 300 miles away.

Daniel and Katie find themselves in no-man’s land, caught on the barbed wire of welfare bureaucracy as played out against the rhetoric of ‘striver and skiver’ in modern day Britain.

I, Daniel Blake has been chosen to screen at the BBC First British Film Festival 2016.  This Palme d’Or winning film from acclaimed British filmmaker, Ken Loach will screen at this year’s BBC First British Film Festival to be followed by a general release on November 17.
