Genre dictionary definitions
Folk: Music originating among the common people of a nation or region and spread about or passed down orally, often with considerable variation.
World: Popular music that has been influenced by the music of traditional cultures
Song-writing in folk and world music genres tells stories about people and the places they come from. This competition is your chance to tell us your stories and for us to hear your music!

How to enter
All entrants must be available to perform at the Act-Belong-Commit Fairbridge Festival Quest Final on the evening of Saturday 25 March 2017 at Clancy’s, Fremantle where shortlisted entrants will be judged by a distinguished panel of music industry experts confirmed as:

Rod Vervest, Fairbridge Festival
You must be available to perform a minimum 20-minute set at Fairbridge Festival, 22 April 2017.
Entries must be your original material and be received by 5 pm, 3 March 2017 with a $20 admin fee*. Entries must include an audio file of your song/s and text document of its lyrics both submitted online.

Songwriting Workshops
To support budding young songwriters and prospective Act-Belong-Commit Fairbridge Festival Quest entrants, come along to one of our songwriting workshops facilitated by award-winning songwriters.

The Act-Belong-Commit Fairbridge Festival Quest songwriting workshops are, at $25 a head, the best value way you will find of spending half a day for the creatively-inclined child between the ages of 12 and 18.
