Ammonite fossil

This small, polished fossil was once a living sea creature – 150 million years ago! These ammonites moved by jet propulsion, much like the nautilus that exists today. And like a nautilus, their shells grew in an amazing spiral pattern.

For your chance to win a polished ammonite slice from www.professorplums.com.au, send us a rubbing of something from your garden with a textured pattern. (You can make a rubbing by laying a piece of paper over something textured, and then rubbing a soft pencil or crayon back and forth over the paper to reveal an image of the textured object below.)
