ADELAIDE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
WINTER FIRE – MASTER SERIES 3
A phenomenon in the world of music for over four decades, Pinchas Zukerman marvels audiences and critics, described as "the forever-young virtuoso" by The Los Angeles Times.
As well as being Adelaide Symphony Orchestra’s Artist-in-Association, he currently serves as the Principal Guest Conductor of London’s Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and has done so since 2009. At Winter Fire, you will be privileged to witness him both perform and conduct "unfailingly charismatically" (The New York Times) and "with an abundance of spirit" (The San Francisco Chronicle).
Accompanied by cellist Amanda Forsyth and conducted by Benjamin Northey, Winter Fire also features a specially-composed double concerto* written by Avner Dorman to celebrate Zukerman’s 70th birthday – a piece which will capture the expressive personalities of the duo. Opening the concert are two soulful songs-without-words and concluding the evening, Zukerman will conduct Tchaikovsky’s triumphant Fifth Symphony – a blazing finale perfect for a winter’s night.
In addition, the ASO will for the first time offer up their Master Series as a matinee session! Don’t miss your opportunity to hear Pinchas Zukerman and Amanda Forsyth perform in the brilliant acoustics of the Adelaide Town Hall at lunchtime.
