The 2019 4KQ Christmas Lights Competition

The 4KQ Christmas Lights Competition is back and its time to make Brisbane sparkle!

Each year hundreds of Brisbane residents and business owners take part in making their streets sparkle for the chance to win a share of over $20,000 worth of cash and prizes.

Enter your display in the 2019 4KQ Christmas Lights Competition and help make the streets of Brisbane sparkle this festive season.

Important dates to remember:

Entries close   November 20 at Midnight
Finalist Judging Night   27th November (Potential Rain Night for finalist Judging 28th November)
Public Viewing Dates   4th December – 24th December 2019
Please note: All displays must be switched on between 7.00pm and 10.00pm for the public viewing evenings from December 4th – 24th December 2019 (subject to inclement weather).

Entry Restrictions
Entrants must be 18 years of age or over.
Entrants must reside within the following area: within zones 1-6 on the Brisbane 6 sheet found on the Brisbane Refidex Key Map. On entering the competition, entrants must include their suburb. The selected suburb must be located within the Brisbane Refidex Key Map – Zones 1 – 6 to enter the competition. A full listing of these suburbs are available on the website listed above
Entrants must be the owner or exclusive lessee of the property the subject of their entry and have the express consent of the owner to enter the competition.
Entering the 4KQ Christmas Lights Competition excludes you from entering any other competitor’s competition which is the same or similar. Including but not limited to other radio station Christmas Lights Competitions. If your display is found to be entered in any competitor competitions it will result in immediate expulsion from the competition.
All Entrants must have a Public Liability insurance policy which protects them and their property in relation to any proposed activity as part of participation in the Christmas Lights. All entrants are required to have a current public liability policy. In the absence of a public liability policy, entrants will be disqualified. The minimum amount for this insurance is 5 million.
9. How to enter
  Online entry:
During the Competition Period:
(a) listeners will be invited via Station on-air commercials to visit
the Station Website and complete the online entry form including by providing their contact details, specifying a category for entry and including/attaching:
- 200 words or less about their entry
- Up to 5 photos of this year’s display at up to 20MB per photo - Up to 2 minutes of unedited video of this year’s display at up
to 100MB
(b) each entry submitted by the time specified by the Station will be individually reviewed by representatives of the Station in the Preliminary Judging Phase. The Station will select up to 4 entries for each suburb category (as listed below) that it deems to be the “best” (in its absolute discretion, based on the Judging Criteria) from all valid entries received within the time period specified and these entries will be deemed Finalists and invited to participate In the Finalist Judging Phase.
(c) The Station will then contact the relevant entrant via email to inform them that their entry has made it through to the Finalist Judging phase. This information will be communicated by 5.00pm, Tuesday 26th November. The finalist judging will occur between 6.00pm and 11pm on Wednesday 27th November at the premises of the relevant Finalist entries, weather permitting. Rain night Judging will occur on Thursday 28th November or any later available date as communicated by the promoter if required.
(d) each entry submitted by the time specified by the Station will be individually reviewed by representatives of the Station in the Finalist Judging Phase. The Station will select an entry for each category that it deems to be the “best” (In its absolute discretion, based on the Judging Criteria) from all valid entries received within the time period specified and these entries will be deemed winners and receive the prize for the relevant category as set out below. Only entrants that are home at the time of the Finalist Judging Phase, with the display switched on (if applicable).
     10. Limitation on entries
     One entry per person
One winner per family/household
Promotions are not open to:
a) employees of, or contractors to, the Promoter or any of its agencies involved with the Promotion;
b) the spouse, de facto spouse, parent, natural or adopted child, or sibling (whether natural or adopted by a parent) of such employees
and contractors (whether or not they live in the same household);
c) any person who is discovered to have used or attempted to use any more than one name in order to qualify to win any Promotion run by the Promoter except in the case of a legal change of name;
d) any person where that person or anyone from the same family or household has won a prize or prizes from the Promoter on the radio station or on any station owned or controlled by the Australian Radio Network valued either individually or collectively at more than $500 in the 30 days prior to the commencement of the Promotion, or $20,000 in the 6 months prior to the commencement of the Promotion.
Entering the 4KQ Christmas Lights Competition excludes you from entering any other competitor’s competition which is the same or similar. Including but not limited to other radio station Christmas Lights Competitions. If you display found to be entered in any competitor competitions it will result in immediate expulsion from the competition.
All Entrants must have a Public Liability insurance policy. This protects you in relation to anything you propose doing as part of your participation in the Christmas Lights. All entrants are required to have a current public liability policy. In the absence of a public liability policy, the entrant will be disqualified.

Each valid entry in the Preliminary Judging phase will be individually judged (by representatives of the Promoter) based on, among other things, Creativity, Originality and Illumination, Atmosphere and Overall impact.
Each valid entry in the Finalist Judging phase will be individually judged (by representatives of the Promoter) based on, among other things, Creativity, Originality, Illumination, Atmosphere and Overall impact.
Judging time cannot be changed at entrant’s election and is final, and if an entrant is not home and/or the display is not on at the nominated judging time, the entrant will be disqualified from the competition.
Judges will not enter entrant’s homes and will only judge the display that is visible from the street.
Judge’s decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered. Judges also take unsafe electrical into the scoring.
