Win one of two special Brisbane International Film Festival movie experiences
When it comes to fabulous ways to welcome the warmer weather, taking in some of the finest local and international films in the comfort of an air-conditioned cinema is pretty hard to beat. This year has made us appreciate the unique pleasure of going to the movies more than ever before, so it’s especially heartening to see the return of the Brisbane International Film Festival to its home at QAGOMA and five fab partner venues across the city for 2020. Minds will be opened, funnybones will be tickled and hearts will soar as we are treated to 11 days of cinema – and with more than 70 titles screening across the festival, there’s something for every taste. To celebrate BIFF’s triumphant return, we’ve joined forces with QAGOMA to roll out the red carpet for two lucky readers and put together a pair of perfectly curated (and equally excellent) movie experiences.
The Art of Cinema prize will see one winner and a friend nab three cinematic sensations from the BIFF program that are guaranteed to lift the spirits. First up is Red Post on Escher Street, a bright and bubbly effort from Japan’s cult-favourite filmmaker Sion Sono, followed by Last and First Men, the mesmerising Tilda Swinton-narrated debut from late film composer Jóhan Jóhannsson. Rounding out the triple feature is Vivos, Ai Weiwei’s politically charged tale of government corruption. The Fright Night prize boasts three bone-chilling flicks that are not for the faint of heart – enter if you dare! You’ll start things off with Australian comedy-horror Bloody Hell, then chase it with some bite-sized shorts from the Off Beats program – each more thrilling than the last. The last cab off the spooky rank is The Queen of Black Magic, a healthy mix of gore and terror from two of Indonesia’s modern masters of horror. Oh, and both winners will receive vouchers to use at the candy bar for each session – because no movie experience is truly complete without eating delicious treats in the dark.
The Weekend Edition has teamed up with our pals at QAGOMA to make two cinephiles very happy, with the chance to win one of two fabulous BIFF movie experiences – each valued at $159! Enter below for your chance to win.
