Queensland School Library Week - Unlocking the Future
 
Queensland school libraries positively influence the learning outcomes of students through teaching multiple literacies and encouraging a lifelong love of learning and reading. In 2018, QSLA introduced the inaugural Queensland School Library Week (QSLW) to highlight the important work of school libraries. QSLW is celebrated in February each year. It provides us with an opportunity to showcase the excellent work of all qualified teacher-librarians and library staff around Queensland.
 
Schools can become involved by promoting Queensland School Library Week and encouraging students to participate in the Primary and Secondary competitions. Winners will each receive a $50 book voucher and their school will receive a $100 book voucher.

COMPETITIONS

Schools can become involved by promoting Queensland School Library Week and encouraging students to participate in the Primary and Secondary competitions. Winners will each receive a $50 book voucher and their school will receive a $100 book voucher.

Entries will be accepted from Monday 15 February until Friday 26 February.

Schools will be notified of winning students’ names via email.

PRIMARY COMPETITION

The primary competition has two categories, Prep - Year 2 and Year 3 - Year 6.  

Prep - Year 2:  Draw or paint your favourite book character in a setting that shows how you imagine the future might look. Your picture should be on an A4 sheet.

Year 3 - Year 6:  Take a photo or produce an artwork inspired by the theme: School Libraries - Unlocking the Future.

Each school may submit one entry for each category by scanning the entry and Authority to Publish form and emailing it to the following address: qslw@qsla.org.au

Please ensure you include a completed ‘Authority to Publish’ form for every entry. Forms can be downloaded by clicking link.

SECONDARY COMPETITION:

Secondary students (Year 7 - Year 12): What do you imagine a school library of the future could look like? Take a photo or produce an artwork to illustrate your ideas.

Each school may submit one secondary school entry by scanning the entry and Authority to Publish form and emailing it to the following address: qslw@qsla.org.au.
