It's been a rough old ride for Melbourne during this pandemic, but with both fingers and legs crossed, next week's Summer Sounds Festival's Melbourne programme is set to kick off at Sidney Myer Music Bowl (25-27 February, 3-4 March).

A double bill of legendary Australian rock acts, Bernard Fanning and Something For Kate will join forces for a Saturday night (27 Feb) to remember.

One of Australia's most recognisable voices, Fanning needs no introduction to local music lovers.

Frontman for Powderfinger, Bernard has recorded four solo albums since releasing 'Tea & Symphony' in 2005. His most recent solo release is 2017 album 'Brutal Dawn'.

Whether it be a Powderfinger classic or a solo gem, Fanning takes you on a nostalgic trip back to your favourite memories.

Then there's Something For Kate, who after eight years of suspenseful radio static released their newest album 'The Modern Medieval' in 2020.

The dependable, keenly anticipated SFK hallmarks are all there: Eclectic subject matter, bittersweet lyricism, military-tight production, and Paul Dempsey's ascending vocals that lift the emotional rug out from under our feet.

Alongside their massive back catalogue that features another six studio albums dating back to 1997's 'Elsewhere For 8 Minutes', fans are in for an epic set from the Melbourne three-piece.
