GOMA’s hugely popular The Art of the Heist cinema program is running at the gallery’s Australian Cinémathèque from April 29 to June 26 and is set to shine a spotlight on one of cinema’s most beloved crime subgenres – the heist. With an unmissable line-up featuring everything from cult classics to foreign favourites, more than 30 features will be rolling film, traversing an exhilarating journey across diverse cinematic styles – think cracking capers, explosive action and heart-stopping film noir.

Keen to catch the bad guys (on the big screen)? To celebrate The Art of the Heist cinema program, we’ve partnered with our good friends at GOMA to give you and your fellow film-fanatic friend the chance to win the ultimate day out at this cultural haven – valued at $300.

On Sunday June 19 you’ll kick off the day by exploring the ethereal wonder of one of the world’s foremost sculptural artists in the exclusive exhibition Chiharu Shiota: The Soul Trembles. Afterward, refresh and relax with a delectable lunch for two at GOMA Restaurant. Once your appetite is satiated, it’s time to strap in for a suspenseful cinematic experience, with two tickets to see runaway money-heist Widows (snacks included!). From multi-award-winning director Steve McQueen (12 Years a Slave, Shame), and featuring a stellar line-up of actors including Viola Davis, Liam Neeson, Robert Duvall, Colin Farrell and Australia’s own Elizabeth Debicki, this nail-biting thriller will have you hanging on the edge of your seat.
