Tucked away in Bakery Lane, this pint-sized restaurant has earned itself a stellar reputation in Brisbane’s dining scene, renowned for its meticulously prepared dishes, intimate hospitality and unique dining experience. Only ten diners are served at a time, with chef and owner Sarah Baldwin preparing (and serving) dishes before your eyes, assisted by Oliver Chia. A visit to Joy is unlike any other – sat up at the counter, you’ll be guided through each dish on the ever-changing set menu and taken on a tantalising journey paired with exquisite sips and passionate storytelling. The food boasts distinct Nordic and Japanese influences (the experience is similar to that of an omakase), made with local Australian ingredients and Scandinavian techniques.
