We’re giving you the chance to explore your family history with an AncestryDNA kit!

 

Ever wondered what stories and secrets your ancestry holds? Maybe you come from a long line of adventurers – that’d explain your obsession with the outdoors!

We’ve teamed up with Ancestry to give five lucky people the opportunity to journey back in time and discover their family’s past. Who knows, maybe you’ll end up connecting more deeply with people in the present as well!



What’s up for grabs?
Five lucky winners will receive an AncestryDNA kit + Traits.

AncestryDNA is a simple at-home saliva test. Simply return the sample in the pre-paid box provided and your DNA results will then be processed at the lab. You’ll receive an email when your results are ready to explore on the AncestryDNA website.

The data from your 700,000 markers is compared to population data from over 1,800 global regions and your results are sent back with a breakdown of your ethnicity by percentage. You’ll also be sent a list of people whose DNA matches yours, along with info on just how related you are.

But won’t they use my DNA to clone me?
Nope! During the DNA kit process, you get to decide whether you want your DNA sample to be stored or not. If you don’t consent to Ancestry storing your DNA, it’ll be destroyed after the test. If you’re happy for them to keep it, it’ll only be used again if new products become available.

And there’s no need to worry about your personal details or history getting leaked – your test sample is linked to an activation code in the testing facility, not your name.

STANDARD TERMS

1.1 Information on how to enter forms part of the terms of entry.

 

WHO CAN ENTER

2.1 Subject to clause 2.2, entry is open to Australia/Australian and New Zealand/New Zealander, 18+ years of age residents only.

2.2. Employees, franchisees, and their immediate families of We Are Explorers, Ancestry, or any related agencies, are not eligible to enter. Immediate family means any of the following: spouse, ex-spouse, de-facto spouse, child or step-child (whether by natural or by adoption), parent, stepparent, grandparent, step-grandparent, uncle, aunt, niece, nephew, brother, sister, step-brother, or step-sister.

 

HOW TO ENTER

3.1 The competition commences on 23/09/22 at 10:00 AM AEST and closes 21/10/2022 at 11:59 PM AEST (“the Competition Period”).

3.2 In order to enter, the entrants must complete the entry form by providing the entrant’s full name, email address, state and agree to the terms and conditions.

3.3 In order to enter, the entrants must agree to receive email marketing communications from the Promoters and competition partners (Ancestry) which may be unsubscribed at any point.

3.4 Entrants may only enter once.

 

PRIZES

4.1 Five winners will be chosen at random with a random name selector program.

5 x AncestryDNA kit: AncestryDNA + Traits, value $795

 

Total Prize Value: $795 AUD

4.2 Prize cannot be exchanged or refunded in any way by the winner.

 

UNCLAIMED PRIZE

Any prizes that remain unclaimed for 1 month after the end of the promotion period will be redrawn and awarded to another entrant as determined by the Promoters.  

If required, this will occur on 22/11/2022.

 

SELECTION OF PRIZE WINNER

5.1 Each entrant who has entered the competition over the Competition Period and registered all details in accordance with Clause 3 will be entered into the prize pool.

5.2 The winners will be selected by the Promoters on 25/10/22 – 10:00 AM AEST at We Are Explorers’ Premises at 2/10 Towers Drive, Mullumbimby NSW 2482.

5.3 The winners of the competition, as determined by the Promoters, agrees to provide proof of age to We Are Explorers if deemed necessary by the Promoters.

5.4 The winners will be notified by email and will be announced on We Are Explorers social media platforms from 19/09/2022.  

5.5 The Promoter’s decision is final.

 

NO LIABILITY

6.1 In the case of the intervention of any outside act, agent or event which prevents or significantly hinders the Promoter’s ability to proceed with the competition on the dates and in the manner described in these terms and conditions, including but not limited to vandalism, power failures, tempests, natural disasters, acts of God, civil unrest, strike, war, act of terrorism, the Promoters may in their absolute discretion cancel the competition or other as subject to any State Legislation.

6.2 The Promoters and their associated agencies and companies will take no responsibility for prizes damaged or lost in transit, or late, lost or misdirected mail.

6.3 The Promoters and their associated agencies and companies will not be liable for any misadventure, accident, injury, loss (including but not limited to consequential loss) or claim that may occur:

6.3.1 during the draw;

6.3.2 Whilst undertaking any travel won connected with their entry into the draw; or

6.3.3 in the participation in any prize

6.3.4 as a consequence of late, lost or misdirected mail;

6.3.5 due to the broadcast of any program relating to the competition or the publication of any material, including any statements made by any compere, staff member, journalist, other entrants or any other person;

6.3.6 due to circumstances outside the Promoter’s reasonable control.

6.4 The Promoters and its affiliates assume no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, theft or destruction or unauthorised access to, or alteration of, entries, and reserve the right to take any action that may be available.

6.5 If, for any reason, this competition is not capable of being conducted as planned, including, but not limited, due to tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other causes beyond the control of the Promoter’s which corrupt or affect the administration security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this competition, the Promoter’s reserve the right, at their discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process or any other dishonest act, may take any action that may be available, and to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the competition, subject to State legislation.

The personal information collected as part of the entry is collected to enable identification of the winner and for future marketing and promotional purposes.
