Win one of ten double passes to the German Film Festival at Palace Cinemas.
The German Film Festival returns in May for its best year yet! Taking over Palace Barracks and Palace James Street from May 3 to May 24, the festival celebrates the talents of Germany’s finest filmmakers including Aelrun Goette, Anika Decker, Emily Atef, Birgit Möller and more. This year’s German Film Festival will deliver key selections direct from the 2023 Berlin International Film Festival (The Berlinale) including a music-themed retrospective, films focused on female filmmakers and the family sidebar Kino for Kids. Trust us when we say you won’t want to miss out on this year’s exceptional film line-up. You can check out the month of stellar programming here.
Opening the festival is the new film from Balloon director Michael ‘Bully’ Herbig A Thousand Lines (Tausend Zeilen), an exciting drama based on true events. Festival favourites Elyas M’Barek and Jonas Nay deliver star performances as journalists in a story based on the real-life 2018 fake news scandal involving a disgraced Der Spiegel journalist. The festival centrepiece, direct from its Berlinale world premiere, is The Teachers’ Lounge (Das Lehrerzimmer) starring European rising star Leonie Benesch (Babylon Berlin). This tense drama centres on a dedicated, idealistic teacher who is pushed to the brink when she investigates a series of thefts at her new school. Closing this year’s festival is the female led drama Over & Out, a unique take on a female friendship story. Directed by Julia Becker, it focuses on four lifelong friends who vowed to celebrate their weddings together 26 years ago but when one of them invites the others to Italy, a chaotic road trip ensues.
To celebrate this dazzling line-up of films, The Weekend Edition is giving away ten double passes to the German Film Festival – to be used on a movie of your choosing! Enter below for your chance to win!
