Thanks for entering Lonely Planet's Capture Your Planet Promotion. Here's some important stuff you should know.
Who's running the show?
The promoter is Lonely Planet Publications Pty Limited (ABN 36 005 607 983) of 90 Maribyrnong Street, Footscray, Victoria 3011 Australia. Our friends at Intrepid Travel, ABN 35 007 172 456, of 11 Spring Street, Fitzroy, Victoria 3065, Borders (ABN 31 082 194 287) of Level 19, 8 Exhibition Street, Melbourne 3000 and Angus and Robertson (ABN 12 060 424 124) of Level 19, 8 Exhibition Street, Melbourne 3000, Australia are our promotional partners. Information about the prizes and how to enter forms part of these conditions of entry. By entering the promotion, you agree that these conditions of entry apply to your entry and that Lonely Planet's decisions (as the promoter) will be final. Any changes will be published on the Lonely Planet website at

Can I play?
This promotion is open only to legal residents of Australia and New Zealand, aged 18 or over. The laws in some places don't allow Lonely Planet to run this promotion, in which case the promotion and these conditions of entry are void in those places. Also, you can't enter this promotion if you (or your immediate families or housemates) are employed by Lonely Planet, Intrepid Travel or their subsidiaries and affiliated companies.
How do I play?
To enter this promotion, eligible entrants must purchase any Lonely Planet product from a participating Borders or Angus and Robertson store within the promotional period, and enter your details in the entry form online at www.lonelyplanet.com/intrepid, include all your details as well as your Borders receipt number as proof of purchase. You can enter between 9am AEST on Tuesday 26th October, 2010 and 5pm AEST on Monday 15th November, 2010. You can enter as many times as you like, but each entry must be accompanied by a separate entry form and receipt number as proof of purchase if entering online. Your entry is received at the time Lonely Planet receives it. If your dog eats your entry, it's not Lonely Planet's fault. If your entry gets lost in cyberspace or doesn't arrive for any other reason, that's not Lonely Planet's fault either. Lonely Planet might have to change the dates of the promotion, but only subject to regulatory authority approval, and only if it's totally unavoidable (and we'll let you know if we do).
How do you pick the winner?
The winner will be determined by a random draw of all eligible entries. Proof of purchase must be provided to claim the prize. Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received. This unenviable task will happen in a small, dark room at Lonely Planet Publications Pty Ltd (ABN 36 005 607 983) of 90 Maribyrnong Street, Footscray, VIC 3011 Australia at 2pm on Monday 29th November. Lonely Planet's decision is final (so there!) and no correspondence will be entered into, even if you think that sucks.
Subject to state regulations, Lonely Planet can cancel or modify the promotion if there are compelling technical or administrative reasons which we cannot control. If that happens, Lonely Planet will conduct the draw from all eligible entries received at that time.
The promoter reserves the right in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process, or may benefit from such tampering.

Total (highest) retail value for the prize is up to AUD$9878.95 These prize values are accurate at the start of the promotion, and any change after the promotion begins is beyond the promoter's control.
How do I find out if I won?
We'll give the winner the good news by phone, email and mail (where this information has been provided) and the winners name will be published on the Lonely Planet website within 2 days of the draw. The winner's details will be published in The Australian on Monday 13th December, 2010.
If you're riddled with curiosity, send us a stamped, self addressed envelope (including the name of the promotion) to us within 3 months of the date of the draw, and we'll write back and tell you who won.
Lonely Planet will do its best to find the winner. But if we can't, or if the winner hasn't accepted the prize by Friday 18th February 2011, a redraw will be conducted on Friday 4th March 2011 at 11am AEST at Lonely Planet Publications Pty Ltd (ABN 36 005 607 983) of 90 Maribyrnong Street, Footscray, VIC 3011 Australia, and a new winner announced. The winner's details will be published in The Australian on Friday 18th March 2011.
If you do win …
From Intrepid Travel's trips; Kenya Adventure 8 Days (Trip Code YSE), Umbrian Escape (Trip Code ZSR), Spirit of Vietnam (Trip code VSF), A Taste of Patagonia (Trip Code GRE) and California Discovery (Trip Code SRCD) the trip & return airfares must be booked simultaneously. The trip must be booked and confirmed at least 60 days prior to departure. Travel must be completed by 30 November 2011. No extension is available. The trip and airfares are subject to availability and confirmation by Intrepid Travel & airline carrier is at Intrepid's discretion. Black out periods may apply. Carbon offset is covered by Intrepid Travel. This prize cannot be used in conjunction with any other discounts or special offers.
Intrepid Travel requires that you and your travel companion hold Travel Insurance before you will be able to take the trip. You and your companion will be responsible for all international airline taxes, travel insurance, domestic airfares (if required), any additional meals, any extra sightseeing or activities, any additional accommodation, personal spending money, passports, travel visas required, transport to and from departure point and all other ancillary costs, as well as obtaining any of these, and any other expenses, fees and costs connected with that prize that are not included in the prize description. Before we can give you your prize, you'll have to sign a "release", which says that if anything goes wrong with your prize once it's been awarded, you agree that Lonely Planet and its promotional partners won't be responsible (unless the law says otherwise). If the prize description says you can take a friend, you'll need to get your friend to sign a release too.
Of course, if you win a prize, you'll be good and comply with all relevant laws, rules and regulations.

What happens to my entry?
On submission, your entry becomes the property of Lonely Planet, and you give Lonely Planet a worldwide, irrevocable licence to reproduce, publish, adapt, communicate and broadcast all or part of it in any form and media, and to sub-licence those rights (including to our related companies, licensee publishers and partners). You also consent to us editing, re-using, storing, reproducing and communicating your entry in any medium. We'll decide whether you should be attributed.
Lonely Planet and its promotional partners will only use the personal information contained in your entry to conduct the promotion and award the prize (but if you've told Lonely Planet that you want to receive stuff from us and/or our promotional partners, we'll use your personal information for that too).
