November 30, 2010 - Early entry deadline

February 28, 2011 - All entries must be received

March 31, 2011 - Up to 20 finalists will be notified via e-mail. The names of the finalists will be posted on http://onlyoriginals.org.

April 30, 2011 - Finalists must submit digital portfolios by this date.

June 1, 2011 - Online exhibition begins. Prize winner is announced.

November 30, 2011 - Exhibition closes



Eligibility

Open to artists ages 18 and older. The artist must reside in a country where PayPal allows prize money to be transferred to a local bank account, or to be withdrawn by check. As of October 15, 2010, these countries include:

Each artist may submit up to three works, preferably created within the last three years.

All types of two‑dimensional work, including photography and digital imagery, will be considered.

All works must be original and produced by the submitting artist.

How to Enter

All images and entry fees must be received by midnight (U.S. Central Time)
February 28, 2011.
 
All entries must be submitted as JPEGs. Each image should be labeled with the artist's last name, first initial, and title of the piece (for example:  Smith_K_Sunrise over Laguna Beach).

All images should be sent as e‑mail attachments to:
onlyoriginals@sbcglobal.net

The subject line of the e‑mail should read INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION.

The body of the e‑mail should include the following information (or fill out our online entry form):

·        Artist's name as it is to appear on the web site
·        E‑mail address
·        Mailing address
·        Title of the piece(s)
·        Medium
·        Size (in inches or centimeters)
·        PayPal account e‑mail address (Why is this necessary?)

The above information, as well as all correspondence with the gallery, must be written in English.

Digital size limitations:
72‑300 dpi
1200 pixels (longest side) recommended – Note: Files that are too large are difficult to download; files that are too small are difficult to judge.

Entry Fees

The entry fee must be paid online and is nonrefundable.

The early entry fee is $15 for up to three works. In order to be eligible to receive the discount, the entry must be made by November 30, 2010 (midnight U.S. Central Time). After November 30, the entry fee is $20 for three works.

The entrant will receive an e‑mail confirmation that the submission has been processed.

Although Only Originals will not reproduce an artist's work for any purpose other than gallery display and exhibition promotion, there are inherent risks to copyright when displaying work online. By entering this exhibition, the artist recognizes this risk and agrees to hold Only Originals, its owner(s), and staff nonliable.

Prizes

Up to 20 individuals will be selected as finalists. Finalists will be asked to submit three to six examples of their work, which will then be posted on the Only Originals web site for a minimum of six months. Note that the gallery owner may reject any image that exhibits objectionable content (this is not to infer that tasteful nudes will be excluded).

A single entrant will receive a cash award. The amount of the cash award is determined by the number of entries received. From each entry fee, five U.S. dollars will be applied toward the cash prize. In other words, if 50 artists enter the contest, the prize is $250. If 250 enter, the prize is $1,250. If 500 enter, the cash award is $2,500. The minimum cash prize, regardless of the number of entrants, is $250. The maximum prize is $5,000.

Cash awards will be placed in the winner’s PayPal account, to be withdrawn at the recipient’s leisure. The gallery is not responsible for international fees charged by PayPal to establish an account, to convert currency, or to withdraw funds. Nor is it responsible for government regulations concerning accounts, changes in PayPal policies, or for disputes between the account holder and PayPal.

Only the artists' original submissions will be used in determining a winner. The portfolios submitted by finalists will not be considered.

At the conclusion of the contest, a list of participants will be sent to the winner so that he/she can validate the amount of the award. A list will be available to other participants upon request.

Family members of the gallery owner are ineligible for the cash prize.

Commission

There is no commission on sales through the gallery. Interested buyers are referred directly to the artist.

Judge

The competition is judged by the gallery owner Carol Anna Fullerton‑Samsel. All decisions are final.

Contact

The gallery will contact all participants, finalists, and winners by e-mail only. The gallery cannot be held liable for notifications or prizes that do not reach their intended recipients because of expired/changed e-mail addresses, full mailboxes, deletions by spam filters, or expired/changed PayPal accounts. All correspondence will be in English.
