CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
1. THE CHAMPIONSHIP: The Championship will be played at Murgon Golf Club over 54 holes stroke play -
18 holes on each of Friday 18, Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 March.
DIVISIONS – In addition to the Men’s and Women’s Championships, A, B and C Grade nett divisions, as
well as Junior (gross under 18 years) and Senior (gross 55 years and over) will be held in conjunction with
the Championship. A minimum 6 participants will be required for each division to go ahead.
2. CHAMPIONSHIP COMMITTEE: A Championship Committee, appointed by Golf Queensland, shall have
sole management and control of the event. The Championship Committee reserves the right to: (a) fix
and/or alter starting times, (b) in the event of bad weather, or for any other reason, either shorten the
contest or fix another date/venue, (c) vary any condition should they deem it advisable, (d) reject any
entry without assigning any reason therefore. The decisions of the Championship Committee will be final
in all matters and in the absence of a full committee, such members as may be present at the time may
give a decision, and any such decision shall be deemed to be a decision of the full Championship
Committee.
3. ENTRIES:
3.1 The Championship is open to all male and female Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander amateur
golfers with an Australian Men’s Handicap, or Australian Women’s Handicap who are members of a Club
affiliated through their District Golf Association with Golf Queensland or with other State Golf
Associations.
3.2 An Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander is someone who is a member of the Aboriginal or Torres Strait
Islander Race of Australia, identifies as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and is accepted by the
Aboriginal or Torres Strait Island Communities as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.
3.3 The field will be limited to 120 players - should entries be received in excess of this number the higher
handicap players will be balloted out and their entry fee refunded.
3.4 Entries must be received by Golf Queensland, GPO Box 1518, BRISBANE QLD 4001 by 5:00 pm
on Friday 4 March, 2011. Late entries will be accepted at the discretion of the Committee. All entries will
be displayed on our website
www.golfqueensland.org.au as they are received. Inquiries can be made
through the GQ office on (07) 3252 8155.
3.5 The prescribed Nomination Fee of $90.00 (incl. GST) must accompany the nomination form at the
time of nomination. Faxed entries will only be accepted where the nomination fee is paid by credit card
and faxed to 3257 1520. Telephone entries will not be accepted.
3.6 Do not send cash in the mail - GQ will not accept responsibility for cash sent that is not received.
3.7 Entries without a Golf Link number must be accompanied by a handicap record endorsed by an
official of the player's home club.
3.8 Nominations are accepted at face value, on the basis that information contained therein is correct,
and up to date. Should this subsequently be proven not to be the case, GQ reserves the right to deem
any competitor ineligible – at any time prior to or during the Championship.
3.9 Once the draw is completed there will be no refund of entry fees for players who withdraw from the
event. Players who withdraw prior to the draw being published will be refunded their entry fee, less an
administration fee of $11.00.
4. PUBLICITY: GQ arranges publicity before, during and/or after this Championship. It is a condition of
entry that all players assent to references to them, and pictures of them in practice and play being
published via any medium (including the internet).
5. PRIVACY: GQ may retain the personal details (i.e. name, address, handicap) of entrants in this
Championship on its records. The purpose of doing so is such that information on other future events
conducted by GQ (or other parties) can be forwarded as deemed appropriate by GQ. This information will
not be available to any other organisation. Any person may have their details removed from this database
by phoning GQ on 3252 8155.
7. DRESS REGULATIONS: Players and Caddies must comply with the dress regulations of the Murgon
Golf Club.
8. PRACTICE: A practice round will be available on Thursday 17 March contact Murgon Golf Club for more
details (07) 4168 1608. All other practice rounds will be by arrangement with the Club, under the terms
and conditions they may set.
9. RULES: The Rules of Golf as adopted by the R&A Rules Limited will apply together with the Golf
Australia Hard Card and such supplementary Local Rules as are approved by the Championship
Committee.
10. COURSE MARKERS: During practice or during the Championship a player shall not place on the
course, or cause to be placed on the course, any artificial marker or other device designed to indicate
course measurements. A player in breach of this condition shall be disqualified.
11. DRAW AND STARTING TIMES: A draw for each day's play will be published. Players shall start at the
time and in the order arranged by the Committee. Rule 6-3a provides "The player shall start at the time
laid down by the Committee." The penalty for breach of Rule 6-3a is disqualification. However it is a
condition of this Championship, that, in the absence of circumstances which warrant waiving the penalty
of disqualification as provided in Rule 33-7, if the player arrives at his starting point, ready to play, within
five minutes of his starting time, the penalty for failure to start on time is two strokes, instead of
disqualification.
12. BALL: It will be obligatory for all competitors in the Championship to play with a ball which is named in
the current R&A and/or USGA Approved Lists. Copies of these lists are available from
www.randa.org.
PENALTY: Disqualification.
13. USE OF MOTORISED VEHICLES: During any round of the tournament, competitors may not travel in or
on any motorised vehicle unless authorised by the Championship Committee.
PENALTY FOR BREACH OF CONDITION: In the absence of an exemption – 2 strokes at each hole at
which a breach of this condition occurred; maximum penalty per round – 4 strokes.
14. MOBILE PHONES: The use of mobile phones by players and/or caddies during the play of any
competition round is prohibited. Serious breaches of etiquette may result in disqualification.
15. PACE OF PLAY: Rule 6-7 will be strictly enforced. A Pace of Play schedule and description of the
applicable penalties for breaching this schedule will be supplied to competitors prior to the first round of
the tournament.
16. DRUG TESTING: All competitors are subject to drug testing by the Australian Sports Drug Agency for
banned substances as laid down in Golf Australia’s Doping Policy - endorsed by Golf Queensland. Any
competitor infringing this policy or refusing to take a test, may be disqualified.
17. TIES: In the event of a tie or ties for the Championship, unless the Championship Committee otherwise
determines, play shall continue over such holes as the Championship Committee shall decide, players
being eliminated hole by hole as they fail to maintain equality with other or others until the winner is
determined. All other trophies will be decided by the Australian Countback System.
18. PROTESTS: Protests must be lodged in writing with the Championship Committee no later than 5
minutes after the conclusion of the player's round on each day.
19. TROPHIES: Trophies will be awarded to the winners of the following events:- Queensland Indigenous
Male Champion (and runner-up), Queensland Indigenous Female Champion (and runner-up), and other
trophies determined by the Championship Committee.
Note: A player is eligible to win only one trophy.
