Well you know how much I love High Tea or Afternoon Tea don’t you? And I know my lovely readers like it about as much as I do.  Well in August this year Dilmah tea will also host a series of Charitea events at the Hilton Hotels around Australia to raise money for the MJF Foundation is a humanitarian assistance programmes which helps in the education of children in Sri Lanka which is of course where some of the best tea is grown.

Also for those of you with cooking fantasies and baking skills Dilmah is concurrently running a High Tea Challenge (open to chefs and consumers) in August – where they have to develop a high tea menu and match it with Dilmah tea, the short listed entries will have to present their menu at Hilton Hotels (Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide) to Dilhan Fernando (son of Dilmah Founder Merrill J Fernando), Peter Kuruvita and Bernard Uber.

Tickets to the Chariteas are $60 each but thanks to Dilmah, seven lucky Not Quite Nigella readers will each win two tickets to a High Tea in their nearest state worth $120 so that is a total prize pool of $840! For a chance to win two tickets to the Charitea event of your choice all you have to do is tell me what your favourite tea flavour is and why and don’t forget to tell me which date/event you would like to go to in your answer! Simply add your answer as a comment to the story. The competition ends at midnight AEST 9th of July, 2011. You can enter this  competition once daily and it is open to anyone within Australia but transport to and from the venues is not included.

Just devise an original recipe for one or all of the following categories: a tea-based cocktail, a tea-based mocktail, a pairing of tea with food and the invention of a tea-based food recipe using specified Dilmah teas as a key ingredient. Three regional winners per state will be shortlisted in August, and each awarded a weekend package for two at their local Hilton Hotel as well as personalised Dilmah luxury tea presenters. The winners receive a trip to the Ceylon Tea Trails in Sri Lanka and will also present their high tea menu at the Colombo Hilton’s t-Bar hosted by Dilmah family and VIP guests.
