Vast Arts Inc, in collaboration with Desert Channels Group is excited to announce the launch of the Channel Country Photography Competition.
With over $8000 worth of prizes, and sections for varying skill levels, the Channel Country Photography Competition promises to attract a strong field of entries from all over the country.
The competition seeks to have photographers capture the essence of the unique and wonderful scenery in the region interpreted through the lens of a camera.
"The only stipulation is that entries should have been taken in the designated area, within the last twelve months and not be of babies, children or pets," said Miss Shelley Colvin, Project Officer for Vast Arts Inc.
"The aim of the competition is to encourage tourists, visitors and photographers from all around Australia to visit, and while they are here, to also try their hand at taking a photo that encapsulates the region.
"It is an exciting project, with some very significant cash and in-kind prizes, kindly donated by a variety of strongly supportive businesses and not-for-profit organisations. Their support is invaluable.
"I also acknowledge Desert Channels Group who are collaborating with Vast Arts and helping to bring this all to fruition," said Miss Colvin.
Photographers are asked to submit photos that were taken within the Queensland catchment areas of the Diamantina, Georgina, Barcoo and Thomson Rivers and the Cooper Creek within the last twelve months (map available).
Entry photographs will be shown as a multi-media slide show projection on the Channel Country Photography Competition gala evening on 1 October, 2011 at the Qantas Founders Museum.
A 2012 calendar of the winners will be printed and available for purchase in November 2011.

Theme
Photographers are asked to submit photos that were taken
within the boundaries of the area as per map within the last
twelve (12) months. Please title your entry and write 50 words
describing the subject and how the photo was taken.
For the twelve Finalists of the competition, their photographs will
be shown as a multi-media slide show projection on the Cooper
Creek Catchment Photography Competition presentation evening.
There is no limit to the number of photo’s submitted by any one
photographer, but only one photo will be accepted for each entry
and only one will be selected for exhibition.
The competition is open to anyone residing in Australia.
The Channel Country Photography Competition accepts digital
submissions only (Prints or negatives need to be scanned and
converted to digital files). Files need to be loaded as a jpeg onto
a CD or DVD disc and posted to the organisers. Payment details
must be enclosed.
The final number and edit of images selected for projection will
be at the discretion of the selection panel. There will be Twelve
Finalists chosen for the calendar.
All Photographers who enter will have at least one image shown
at the presentation evening and may be hung in the Historic
Ol’World Gallery at the Cobb & Co, Longreach.
All Finalists will be notified as to the status of their entry.
All Finalists work will be included in the calendar. Permission will
be sought before publication.
File specifications
The original files should be as large as possible. (E.g. Taken with
at least a 3.0 MB camera)
Preferred size is 3600 pixels on the longest side.
With a maximum of 300 DPI. Files must be in JPEG Format.
Photoshop and similar software can be used to any degree the
photographer would like, but no borders.
The images may not show the name of the photographer.
Entry Fee
The Entry Fee is $30.00 for the first photo entered. $10.00 for
each additional photo entered. For multiple entries please attach
photograph information on separate entry forms.
The fee can be paid by Credit card with Paypal, Cheque, Money
order or Direct Deposit.

Please note that Vast Arts Inc and The Channel Country Photography
Competition will publish the names of Finalists on press
releases and on the Vast Arts website. All copyright for images
remains with the photographer but we reserve the right to use
photographs for future publicity and promotion of The Channel
Country Photography Competition and on our website.
All Finalist’s work will be included in The Channel Country Photography
Competition Calendar. Permission will be sought before
publication.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
• Vast Arts Inc, Desert Channels Groups and The Channel Country
Photography Competition committee (herein referred to as
‘The Organisers’) do not accept any liability for lost, delayed or
incomplete entries.
• The decision on all matters relating to the competition are final
and confidential and no correspondence will be entered into
concerning the competition's judging.
• The Organisers will notify winning entrants by either Email,
Post or Telephone. Entries will only be accepted in the JPEG
(.jpg) digital format. Entries received after the 31st of August,
2011 unless postmarked prior will not be accepted. Digital
images can only be submitted using the specific entry form
and must be on a CD or DVD compatible with Windows XP.
• The entrant must hold copyright of any photograph entered in
this competition. The Organisers reserves the right to request
supporting evidence.
• The Organisers reserve the right to use photograph entries as
part of the Vast Arts Inc and Desert Channels Group website’s
general content, media and publications in relation to past,
future and present competitions (limited to five years).
• Personal details collected on this form will only be used for the
purposes of this competition and related promotion. Your private
information will not be given to any individual or organisation
other than The Organisers.
• Copyright and intellectual property of the images remains the
property of the photographer and credit will be attributed
where appropriate.
• Only photographs of the designated area will be accepted
into the competition. Photographs of babies,
children and pets will not be accepted.
