Announcing the Peter Porter Poetry Prize
Entry to the eighth annual Australian Book Review poetry prize – renamed the Peter Porter Poetry Prize, in memory of the late Australian poet – is now open.
First prize: $4000
Shortlisted poems: $250

The Peter Porter Poetry Prize is one of Australia’s most lucrative and respected awards for poetry, and guarantees winners wide exposure through publication in ABR.
ENTRY FORM, INCLUDING GUIDELINES
Entries must be one single-authored poem of no more than 100 lines, written in English.
Previously published or prize-winning works will not be accepted. Entries should not be on offer to other
publications or prizes for the duration of the Prize.
Entrants must be Australian citizens (living anywhere) or have permanent resident status in Australia.
Multiple entries are permitted. Separate entry forms are required for each entry.
Entry forms can be obtained from the July–August issue of ABR, from the ABR website
(
www.australianbookreview.com.au) or by sending a stamped and self-addressed envelope to ABR.
Poems must be printed on single-sided A4 paper. THREE copies are needed. Manuscripts will not be returned.
The entrant’s name must NOT be written on the manuscript itself – only on the entry form.
Each entry must be accompanied by an entry fee of $20, or $15 for current ABR subscribers. To qualify for the
discount fee, entrants must hold a subscription to our print or online editions for at least one year (not 30 day access).

The closing date for entries is 21 November 2011. Entries postmarked 21 November are acceptable.
Late entries will not be considered.

ABR staff, board members, and editorial advisers are not eligible to enter. ABR contributors and
volunteers may enter.
The judges’ decision is fi nal, and no correspondence will be entered into.
A shortlist comprising a maximum of six poems will be announced and those poems will be published
in the March 2012 issue of ABR. The winner will be announced in the April 2012 issue.
