By entering this competition, the Entrant(s) (“You”) agree to be bound by these conditions of entry.
The Commonwealth of Australia, acting through the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations, 50 Marcus Clarke St, Canberra City ACT 2601. ABN: 63 578 775 294 (“the Department”) administers National Youth Week, a joint initiative between Australian, State, Territory and Local Governments to celebrate young people in Australia.
Haystac Public Affairs Pty Ltd (“the Promoter”) has been engaged by the Department to promote National Youth Week.
The Quiksilver Foundation is the primary sponsor of the Win Free Stuff Competition for 2012 (“the Sponsor”).

Information on how to enter, and prize details, form part of these conditions of entry. 
Conditions of Entry
Entry is open to all residents of Australia aged between 12 and 25 years of age as at 6 May 2012.
Entry is not open to employees and immediate family members of the Office for Youth or Communications Strategy Branch within the Department, the Promoter, Sponsors and media partners identified on the website (www.youthweek.com).
To enter you must answer the questions on the registration page of the competition you are entering. Your entry must also answer the question you are responding to in 25 words or less. No more than one entry per person per competition is allowed.
Entries must be submitted via the website (www.youthweek.com) and entries close 11.59pm AEST 6 May 2012. Each entry will be individually judged based on literary and creative merit. The judges' have absolute discretion in their determinations and their decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into.
Winners will be notified by email and telephone and their names, State/Territory and literary pieces (if applicable) published on the website (www.youthweek.com).
Prizes
Prizes are not transferable or exchangeable and cannot be taken as cash. No responsibility is accepted for any variation in the number or value of the prizes.
The Department will not be responsible if the prizes or any part of the prizes become unavailable for reasons beyond the Departments control. In the event of such unavailability of the prizes, the Department will endeavour to, but is not obliged to, provide substitute prizes of equivalent value.
Prizes are awarded to entrants who exercise skill in addressing the competition criteria. The competition does not involve chance.

Entrants Obligations
By entering into this competition, you retain ownership of intellectual property rights in your Entry. You are free to continue to use your entry for any purpose.
By entering into this competition you (the Entrant) agree to grant to the Department, the Sponsors and Promoters of the NYW Win Free Stuff Competitions, a permanent, irrevocable, free, worldwide, non-exclusive licence (including right sublicense) to use, reproduce, adapt and exploit the intellectual property rights in entry/entries of categories that they are sponsoring or required to promote, for the purpose of promoting and publicising NYW, or for any other purpose, with or without attribution of authorship, and including by supplementing the entry with any other material or using it in a context which is different to that envisaged by you. Completion and submission of the entry and the registration form will be deemed as acceptance by You to:
the use and publication of Your name, State/Territory and literary pieces (if applicable);
Your name and postal address being forwarded to the Sponsors, in the event that they are a winner, to enable the Sponsors to send them their prize; and Parent/Guardian Consent
All entrants under 16 years of age must obtain the prior permission of a parent or legal guardian (over the age of 18) to:
the entrant’s submission in the ‘Win Free Stuff’ competition;
the use and publication of the entrant’s name, State/Territory and literary pieces (if applicable) as specified in paragraph 25 below;
the entrant’s name and postal address being forwarded to the sponsors, in the event that they are a winner, to enable the sponsors to send them their prize; and
All entrants under the age of 16 years must submit an entry form, which has been signed by their parent or legal guardian (over the age of 18) for their entry to be considered complete.
Departments Rights and Obligations
The Department reserves the right to:
verify the validity of entries and Your identity, age and place of residence; and/or
disqualify any entrant who submits an entry that is, in its reasonable opinion, not in accordance with these conditions of entry.
The Department is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer on-line systems, servers, or providers, computer equipment, software, technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any web site, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to participants or any other person's computer related to or resulting from participation in or downloading any materials in this competition.
If for any reason this competition is not capable of running as planned including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other causes beyond the control of the Department which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this competition, the Department reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process, and to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the competition.
The Department accepts no responsibility for late, lost or misdirected entries.
The Department accepts no responsibility for prizes not claimed within one month of the announcement of the winners.
The Department reserves the right to disclose your personal information and your entry to the Promoter, Sponsors and other Commonwealth Agencies for the purpose of promoting and publicising National Youth Week.
The Department reserves the right to disclose your personal information to the Promoter and/or Sponsors for the purposes of distributing Prizes.
Promoter and Sponsors Rights and Obligations
The Promoter and the Sponsors reserve the right to contact You if You are a winner of the competition.
The Promoter and the Sponsors are obligated to send You Your prize if you are a winner of the competition.
Privacy
The Department manages information collected from entrants in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). The Department may use and publish your name, State/Territory and literary pieces (if applicable) for promotional purposes on the Department’s National Youth Week website (www.youthweek.com), or in publications or publicity materials relating to the National Youth Week. The Department may also provide your name, contact details, State/Territory and literary pieces (if applicable) to the Promoter, Sponsors, media partners and the Youth Week National Planning Group for the purpose of promoting National Youth Week, and for the purpose of delivering prizes and awards. Your personal information will not be used for any other purpose, added to any mailing list or disclosed to any person or organisation without your consent unless such disclosure is permitted pursuant to the Privacy Act 1988 or otherwise specified in the Conditions of Entry.
