Don’t worry.  Australian Homes will be BACK next week, and every Wednesday forever until eternity.  We thought we should just stick to the program this week and showcase our amazing Ultimate Australian Home giveaways in all their glory…!

SO we’re back today with another seriously covetable piece – an original painting by Melbourne artist Kate Tucker!   The work pictured above is entitled Action potential – it’s 40.5 x 40.5 cm, acrylic on linen, and valued at $2000.   I know I know amazing amazing AMAZING.

Kate is an artist whose work you all have admired on TDF before (and in fact you’ve even admired her beautiful home).  Her dense, kaleidoscopic works always incorporate the most stunning signature colour palette, from deep charcoals to teals and peachy pinks.  I particularly love the juicy watermelon hue she often uses – no one mixes coral reds quite like Kate Tucker!

Since graduating from VCA in 2009, Kate Tucker has had two sellout solo shows, and we were also very lucky to include some of her work in The Design Files Open House last year in Melbourne!  Kate is a current finalist in this year’s Archibald Prize for her portrait of singer Missy Higgins – her paintings are also featured on the cover of Missy Higgins’ upcoming solo album.

We reckon every beautiful Australian home should have at least one piece of artwork by a talented local artist hanging on the wall – your collection could very well start this week with Kate’s beautiful painting pictured above!
