It was just a matter of time before ‘hipster culture’ – whatever that loose catchall term is meant to really mean is anybody’s guess – was skewered mercilessly on a TV sketch show. What is surprising is that the show in question, Portlandia, was not only very funny but also had a degree of warmth directed at its targets. Satire can be unnecessarily bitter; Portlandia is anything but."
