By entering the WIN A LUXURY TRIP TO CHINA “The Competition”, you are agreeing to the following terms and conditions:
1. STANDARD TERMS
1.1 Information on how to enter forms part of the terms of entry. Entry into the promotion is deemed acceptance of these conditions of entry.
2. WHO CAN ENTER?
2.1 Subject to clause 2.2, entry is open only to all residents of Victoria 18 years and older. Must be able to show upon request proof of residency e.g. Drivers License.
2.2 Employees and their immediate families of The Promoter (Herald and Weekly Times Pty Ltd - HWT), Helen Wong’s Tours, Sofitel Guangzhou Sunrich, China Southern Airlines and their associated agencies and companies are not eligible to enter. Immediate family means any of the following: spouse, ex-spouse, de-facto spouse, child or step-child (whether by natural or by adoption), parent, step-parent, grandparent, step-grandparent, uncle, aunt, niece, nephew, brother, sister, step-brother, step-sister or first cousin.
3. HOW TO ENTER
3.1 The competition commences on Sunday July 29, 2012 at 00.05 (AEST) and concludes on Sunday August 5, 2012 at 23:50 (“the Competition Period”).

www.heraldsun.com.au/competitions and submit online entry form including the entrant’s full name, address, postcode, day contact number, email address and response to the question ‘in 25 words or less tell us which elements of Guangzhou appeal to you, and why’.
3.2 Only one entry per valid email address. Entries via phone and email are invalid and will not be accepted.
3.3 The Promoter reserves the right to verify the validity of entries and reserves the right to disqualify an entrant for tampering with the entry process or for submitting an entry which is not in accordance with the terms and conditions.
3.4 Entrants (and winner) must be over the age of 18 years to enter the competition.
4. PRIZE
1 (one) x MAJOR PRIZE:
Trip for 2 (two) people to China including return airfares from Melbourne to Guangzhou with taxes, hotel/airport private car transfers in Guangzhou, with China Southern Airlines, three (3) nights’ accommodation with breakfast at Sofitel Guangzhou Sunrich, 2 (two) guided Helen Wong’s Tours with lunch (yum cha or dim sum), entrance fees (as per itinerary) and assistance of English-speaking guides.
TOTAL PRIZE POOL VALUE APPROXIMATELY $9,500.00 (incl. GST)
4.1 Airfare conditions:
4.1.1 The ticket is valid for a maximum journey of 3 (three) months from departure date.
4.1.2 The prize is applicable for travel however it may be subject to class availability. Reservations may be made from 5 (five) weeks prior to travel date.
4.1.3 The ticket is not re-routable, endorsable, transferable nor refundable; change of date is permitted if travel within the same seasonality and the specified booking class is available.
4.2 Prize includes taxes and surcharges. Travel must commence within 6 (six) months of close of competition on August 5, 2012. If the prize is not redeemed within this time, prize will be forfeited. Prize must be taken as offered and cannot be sold, bartered or exchanged for cash. Prize is non-transferrable and not redeemable for cash. In the event of a no-show, the ticket/s may not be changed or reissued. Ticket/s cannot be used in conjunction with any other discounts or special offers.
4.3 The prize is not transferable, exchangeable or redeemable for cash.
4.4 Prize winner and nominated travelling companion must travel together.
4.5 Travel arrangements must be made by contacting Helen Wong’s Tours reservations depart on 1300 788328. All services are subject to availability and a minimum of 5 (five) weeks’ notice is required for flight, accommodation and ground tour reservations. Full name as provided to the Promoter must be advised to Helen Wong’s Tours in order to redeem the prize.
4.6 Flight date exclusions apply of October 1-10, 2012. Blackout dates apply for accommodation, advance booking is required.
4.7 Prize does not include visas, travel insurance, additional meals and beverages, other than those outlined in the terms and conditions, additional spending money and items of a personal nature. Compliance with any health or other government requirements is the responsibility of the prize-winner and their travelling companion. Winners are responsible for making their own travel arrangements to and from their departing Melbourne airport.
4.8 It is the winners’ responsibility to ensure they acquire the correct documentation to allow entry into China at time of travel.
4.9 A credit card imprint or cash deposit may be required from the winner at check-in to the hotel, for all incidental charges.
4.10 In the event that any prize item becomes unavailable due to circumstances beyond the Promoter’s control, the Promoter reserves the right to provide an alternative prize (including to an alternative travel destination as specified by the Promoter) to the same value and same standard as the original prize as determined in its sole discretion by the Promoter, subject to any written directions made under applicable State legislation. Any taxes (other than GST, if any) which may be payable as a consequence of a winner receiving the prize are the sole responsibility of the winner.
4.11 A draw for any major prize, if unclaimed, may take place on 28/08/12 at the same time and place as the original draw, subject to any directions from a regulatory authority. Winner, if any will be notified in writing and or phone within two (2) business days of the draw.
4.12 In participating in the prizes, the winners agree to participate and cooperate as required in all editorial activities relating to the promotion, including but not limited to being interviewed and photographed. The winners grant the promoter a perpetual and non-exclusive license to use such footage and photographs in all media worldwide and the winners will not be entitled to any fee for such use.
5. HOW TO WIN
5.1 Each entrant who has entered the competition over the Competition Period and registered all details in accordance with clause 3 will be entered into the prize draws. Judging will take place at HWT, 40 City Road, Southbank, VIC 3006 from 11:00 on Tuesday August 7, 2012. Judging will be based on the creativity and uniqueness of the entry.
5.2 The winner will be notified by telephone and email and will have their name and state/territory of residence published on the Website on 09/08/12. The winner’s details will be published in Herald Sun public notices on 09/08/12.
5.3 The Promoter’s decision is final and the Promoter will not enter into correspondence regarding the result.
5.4 If an entrant marks the “opt-in” box on the entry coupon, the entrant consents to storage of their personal information on the specified companies’ databases and the specified companies may use this information at any time in the future for promotional and marketing purposes regarding their respective products or services including contacting the entrant via electronic messaging.
6. NO LIABILITY
6.1 In the case of the intervention of any outside act, agent or event which prevents or significantly hinders the Promoter’s ability to proceed with the competition on the dates and in the manner described in these terms and conditions, including but not limited to vandalism, power failures, tempests, natural disasters, acts of God, civil unrest, strike, war, act of terrorism, the Promoter may in its absolute discretion cancel the competition and recommence it from the start on the same conditions, subject to State Legislation.
6.2 The Promoter and Helen Wong’s Tours, Sofitel Guangzhou Sunrich, China Southern Airlines and their associated agencies and companies will take no responsibility for prizes damaged or lost in transit, or late, lost or misdirected mail.
6.3 The Promoter and Helen Wong’s Tours, Sofitel Guangzhou Sunrich, China Southern Airlines and their associated agencies and companies will not be liable for any misadventure, accident, injury, loss (including but not limited to consequential loss) or claim that may occur:
a) during the draw;
b) whilst undertaking any travel won on or connected with their entry into the draw;
c) in the participation in any prize;
d) as a consequence of late, lost or misdirected mail;
e) due to the broadcast of any program relating to the competition or the publication of any material, including any statements made by any compere, staff member, journalist, other entrants or any other person;
f) arising from or related to any problem or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines or mobile communications network related to or resulting from participation in this promotion; or
g) due to circumstances outside the Promoter’s reasonable control.
6.4 The Promoter and Helen Wong’s Tours, Sofitel Guangzhou Sunrich, China Southern Airlines and its affiliates assume no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission; communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorised access to, or alteration of, entries, and reserves the right to take any action that may be available.
6.5 If, for any reason, this competition is not capable of being conducted as planned, including, but not limited, due to tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other causes beyond the control of the
Promoter which corrupt or affect the administration security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this competition, the Promoter reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process, take any action that may be available, and to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the competition, subject to State Legislation.
