Remember Trainspotting? Oh man, those were the days. Oasis. Blur. The Chemical Brothers near their peak. Alanis Morissette. Glory years. Hedonism didn’t get more exciting than that. Well, if you don’t count Hunter S. Thompson’s entire career. Or the Stones’s ‘72 tour. Or Led Zep. Whatever, you get the point. Scottish author Irvine Welsh updated the whole drug binge thing for the ecstasy/rave crowd back in the ‘90s and one of his short stories – Ecstasy – has just been turned into a movie called, conveniently enough, Ecstasy. Fun fact: Irvine Welsh used to be a property speculator. Thanks to the good people at Universal/Sony we have ten copies of Ecstasy if you can remember one thing about 1996 that we don’t.
