Meet the Wingnuts of Bogan Brompton at the 2013 Adelaide Fringe

Matt Byrne’s Bogans will take over Maxim’s Wine Bar for the 2013 Adelaide Fringe when we meet the Wingnuts of Bogan-Brompton.

Adelaide theatre identity Matt Byrne’s latest comic outrage looks at the life of Adelaide’s dodgiest family at Maxim’s Wine Bar, Norwood, from February 12 to March 17 at 8 p.m.

Errol, Cheryl, Sharlene and GT Wingnut live a fined life, without pay packets, licences, liability or any of the other niceiities of modern civilisation.

They rule the roost in Dipstick Street, Bogan-Brompton, where life with Centrelink support is sweet, until developers decide to move in to get the residents out and the yuppies in!

Director/writer Matt Byrne said Bogans were a “target for plenty of derision, yet we all have an inner Bogan who appears when we shut the front door.”

“Belinda Knott, Kim York, Brendan Cooney and myself, not only play the Wingnuts but everyone else who lives in Dipstick Street,” Byrne said.

“We play nastier neighbours, massage ladies, taxi drivers, flashers, bashers, bikers, developers, garage sellers, fat scags and even a pit pull called Road Rage. It’s a case of the Good, the Bad and the Ugg Boot as the Wingnuts sing, dance, brawl and Mall their way through the night to save their street from urban renewal.”

Byrne has written, directed and produced the show, with Rodney Hrvatin as Muscial Director and Rose Vallen as Choreographer.

Matt Byrne Media presents Bogans at Maxim’s Wine Bar at 194a The Parade, (upstairs opposite the Norwood Town Hall) from Feb 12 ($15 Preview), Feb 13-15 & 17, 20-22 & 24, & 26, Feb 27, Mar 1 & 3, 6-8 & 10 and 13-15 & 17 at 8 p.m.

Tix are $25.00 with Wicked Wednesdays for just $20.00, and no Saturday shows.
