Academy Award® and Golden Globe nominee, Bill Murray and Academy Award® nominee, Laura Linney star in this historic tale that explores the all too human side of iconic leader, Franklin D Roosevelt. Directed by Roger Michell, HYDE PARK ON HUDSON focuses on the famous weekend in June 1939 when the President of the United States hosted the King and Queen of England at his home in upstate New York. The first-ever visit to America by a reigning British Monarch came as war with Germany loomed and England was desperate to confirm US support. The story is told by Linney as Daisy, the President’s distant cousin with whom he shares a great intimacy. International affairs are juggled as the complexities of FDR’s many intimate relationships and personal relationships play out to make a most memorable royal weekend.
