Short Story Competition 2013

The 2013 Fifty-Plus News Short Story Competition is now open.

Entries are now invited for the 2013 Fifty-Plus News Short Story Competition.  This year’s competition will interest all our crime and mystery writers.  So if you fancy yourself as an undiscovered Kerry Greenwood, Dorothy Sayers, P D James, Peter Temple or Shane Maloney, this is your chance to show us your talents.

With a little imagination and ingenuity the crime and mystery theme can be manipulated to include a host of different themes and ideas, so don’t be put off if you have not tackled this genre of writing before.

Five stories will be awarded prizes in this year’s competition and each will be published in Fifty-Plus News.

You’ll find a copy of the Entry Form on page 13 of the December 2012 issue and the closing date is not until 26 April 2013, so there is plenty of time to give your crime or mystery plot some thought.  Entry forms will also be available  in successive issues of Fifty-Plus News from February 2013, our first publication in the New Year. 2013 Short Story Competition

Conditions of Entry:
1. Entrants must be more than 50 years of age and must reside in Victoria.
2. Stories must be no more than 750 words in length and must address the theme.
3. No member of staff of Fifty-Plus News or their relatives is eligible to enter.
4. The decisions of the judges will be final & no correspondence will be entered into.
5. Entrants should be prepared to have their story published in an issue of Fifty-Plus
News. A nominal fee of $75 will be paid to authors of stories selected for publication.
6. Closing date for entries is 5pm Friday, April 26, 2013.

9. Each separate entry must be accompanied by an original or photocopied
