Inspired by director Erik Poppe’s own experiences as a war photographer in the 1980s, the film tells the poignant story of an internationally acclaimed war photographer Rebbecca, played by Academy Award Winner Juliette Binoche. While documenting a group of female suicide bombers, she is badly hurt in an explosion. Back home, her husband and daughters can no longer endure her risking her life on assignments. She is given an ultimatum: choose between work and family. Her choice seems obvious until the pull of journalistic duty calls again.
