The film centres on two separate expeditions, attempting to reach the summit of the fearsome mountain, that each faces its own increasingly overwhelming challenges as one of the worst snowstorms in human history bears down upon them. The film has a large and impressive cast, featuring the likes of Jason Clarke, Josh Brolin, John Hawkes, Robin Wright, Jake Gyllenhaal, Emily Watson, Keira Knightley, Sam Worthington and Martin Henderson.
