Now in it’s 4th year, Brisbane’s foremost annual children’s snow attraction, Snow4Kids, will be partnering with the city’s nationally recognised children’s festival, QPAC’s Out of the Box, to deliver an exciting free attraction as part of their new Snow4Kids Festival program.
For the last three years, Snow4Kids has created a winter snow wonderland for the children of Brisbane over the June/July school holidays. This year, the Snow4Kids Festival will host a free attraction in partnership with the Out of the Box Festival. Nationally renowned Indigenous Australian artist, Craig Tapp, will create artworks using carved and coloured snow to tell a traditional Indigenous Dreamtime story. This attraction, running from June 25 to 28, will encourage interaction between the children, the artist and the artwork.
From humble beginnings at the Southbank Parklands in 2013 with a 20m by 7m patch of land and two large piles of snow to a multi-venue event on both sides of the river in 2015, and now a collaboration with one of the states biggest children’s events, Snow4Kids has become a hugely popular Winter School holidays activity. Last year’s Snow4Kids Park at The Courier-Mail Piazza was a sold out event that attracted over 16,000 visitors.
This year, on top of the free Out of the Box attraction, the Snow4Kids festival will have two paid attractions, the Snow4Kids Park and Snowman Building. For the first time, a real snow fall experience will take place in the Snow4Kids Park within each of the 7 hourly sessions, daily. The Snow4Kids Park will also include mini snow tobogganing and snow mountains while the Snowman Building will offer buckets of snow with a large assortment of decorations to create their own snowman.
The Snow4Kids Festival will run from 25 June until 10 July at The Courier-Mail Piazza in the South Bank Parklands.
