Aussie Mushroom Supplies have been manufacturing and selling mushroom kits for over 15 years, supplying kits that can be safely transported directly to you and be fruited in your homes. The kits come in fully sterilised bags, which are safe to store in the fridge until you are ready to grow your mushrooms (most species are fine for 1-2 months). Most importantly, pick the perfect spot for your new mushrooms – they need light to grow, similar to reading light. The best fruiting location is somewhere humid (above 70 per cent), with non-direct sunlight, fresh air and cool temps within the mushrooms desired range outlined in the instructions.

The kits being given away here by Aussie Mushroom Supplies are for oyster mushrooms, which are frequently used in Japanese, Korean and Chinese cookery as a delicacy: the mushroom’s taste has been described as mild with a slight odour similar to anise. Competition open to Australian residents only. Competition opens at midnight AEST on 5/5/21 and closes 11:59pm AEST on 23/6/21. This is a game of skill. To be eligible to win you must answer ‘What is your favourite way to cook mushrooms?’ in 30 words or less. Ten (10) winners will receive an oyster mushroom kit from Aussie Mushroom Supplies worth $29 each. Total prize pool is $290 (Incl. GST). Entries will be judged by the ABC Organic Gardener editorial team on 22/7/21. The most creative answer will win. The judge’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
