This year, avoid all of the last-minute scrambling in the run-up to Father’s Day, with Tamdhu Single Malt Scotch Whisky.

The only distillery in all of Scotland to mature its whisky exclusively in the finest Oloroso sherry casks from beginning to end. The venerable old house has been crafting drams of rich and versatile character since 1897 on the banks of the River Spey.

As part of our little passion project, putting together the apex of all Father’s Day 2023 gift hampers, we’re delighted to announce Tamdhu is kicking in a couple of bottles, including their 12 Year Old Single Malt: a Speyside single malt that is as stylish of a presence in the home bar as it is delicious (and multi Gold Medal winning at the 2022 San Francisco World Spirits Competition and 2023 International Wine and Spirit Competition).

An all-round excellent gifting option – dare we say, even after Father’s Day – Tamdhu’s 12-year-old was variously described by legendary British whisky writer Michael Jackson as “urbane”, “toffee-nosed” and “versatile”. The man knew what he was on about – and we tend to agree.

This supremely elegant and hearty evocation of Speyside whisky-making leans heavily into the Tamdhu specialty in Oloroso sherry – an aspect of oak cask maturation that the distillery has worked tirelessly to perfect since its foundation in 1897.

Lending a distinctive bouquet of dark caramelised fruits and a rich amber appearance, Oloroso casks figure prominently in Tamdhu’s signature house style. Ideally suited to dram-lovin’ dads of all descriptions: the 12-year-old offers classic sherried aromas of cinnamon and orange peel in an instant; along with banana, toffee, and malt biscuit notes.

Yes, it’s smooth and easy drinking. But once the whisky glasses come out – and with our dads, that’s always a very real possibility – there’s more than enough complexity to sip and mull over into the wee small hours of the evening.
