Painting the Light, is an historical novel that covers the period from the late 1930s to the early 1950s.
It is a story of love, families and politics that forever changes the lives of two young, independent Australians as they embark on their adult lives.
It will appeal to literary fiction and historical romance readers alike.
The outbreak of World War Il forces Nell Hope, a free-spirited woman in her late teens, home from pursuing her dream of being an artist in Paris.
It also forces Alec Murray to abandon his farm to serve his country in the fight against Fascism.
Thrown together in the heightened atmosphere of pre-war Sydney, they fall in love.
It's the first novel for writer, actor and teacher Ned Manning and it is based on the lives of his parents. It's available through Booktopia. We have 2 copies to give away. To enter, write your name, address and phone number on the back of an envelope and post to: The Senior, Painting the Light, PO Box 130, Wyong NSW 2259. Entries close March 1, 2024
