Read on for the full details on how to enter and discover the perfect three-day getaway to Auckland.
Here’s how you’ll spend an incredible 72 hours in Auckland
You’ll stay for three nights in an Elite King Room at Horizon by SkyCity. Auckland’s newest five-star hotel is steps away from great shopping, topnotch eateries, galleries and museums and the buzzing Viaduct Harbour precinct. The modern rooms are decorated with abstract paintings and copper sculptures by New Zealand artists and the floor-to-ceiling windows offer sprawling views of the urban landscape and harbour.
Head over to the Viaduct and spend an evening dining on sustainably-sourced local ingredients at QT Auckland’s Esther restaurant. From the open kitchen you can watch head chef Sean Connolly’s team prepare market-fresh fish with seasonal vegetables and more.
The excitement continues at Wētā Workshop Unleashed, a mind-bending journey through the world of horror, fantasy and sci-fi filmmaking. The hyper-realistic creatures and sets will leave you wondering if you’ve accidentally stumbled upon Middle Earth as you learn how these iconic movie scenes came to life.
Wake up to a complimentary buffet breakfast at Horizon by SkyCity and then work off your indulgences at the All Blacks Experience. Here you’ll hear from players both past and present, connect with New Zealand and Māori art and culture and be energised by the Haka war dance on a massive surround screen. You’ll even get to put your skills to the test in the interactive rugby zone.
Then, it's time to get out on the water. Catch the Fullers360 ferry and spend a day on Waiheke Island, famed for its white sand beaches, rolling vineyards, picturesque hikes and delicious dining. Start with ziplining over a verdant vineyard and ancient forest walk at EcoZip Adventures, before taking in the natural splendour and taste award-winning wines on the Essence of Waiheke Wine Tour with Ananda Tours.
Don’t leave without popping into Toi o Tāmaki Auckland Art Gallery – its home to some of Aotearoa New Zealand’s most revered artworks. Art lovers will not want to miss The Robertson Gift: Paths through Modernity; a must-see art exhibition showcasing the works of renowned artists such as Picasso, Braque, Cezanne, Gauguin and Matisse.
Before you return home, raise your glass in a toast to the perfect getaway at the top of Sky Tower. Watch the sunset over the shimmering skyline and see if you can count all of Auckland’s 53 volcanoes. The views of the city, ocean and rolling hills are pure magic.
