Across three timelines, a pair of lovers find each other again and again in French director Bertrand Bonello‘s ambitious, genre-defying film.
The year is 2044: artificial intelligence controls all facets of a stoic society as humans routinely ‘erase’ their feelings, and an intelligent woman has to make a choice between finding an interesting job or keeping her emotions— and possibly the love of her dreams.
To get rid of her feelings, she has to go back into her past lives to cleanse the old traumas contaminating her unconscious. It is there she comes face to face with a love story that crosses lifetimes and eras, and disturbs her choice.
