Ambition Seduces. Power Corrupts.

The reimagining of Anthony Quinn’s novel Curtain Call centres on Jimmy Erskine (Sir Ian McKellen), the Daily Chronicle’s most famous and featured theatre critic of the age; David Brooke (Mark Strong), with whom he clashes after recently inheriting the paper; and a young actress, Nina Land (Gemma Arterton), who is devastated by Jimmy’s recent negative review of her. As the three become entangled in a whodunnit wrapped in a Faustian pact, their strange triangle winds tighter and tighter to devastating effect for all those caught in the deadly web of blackmail and betrayal.

From director Anand Tucker (Hilary and Jackie) and adapted by Patrick Marber (Closer, Notes on a Scandal) and also starring Ben Barnes, Alfred Enoch, Romola Garai and Lesley Manville, THE CRITIC is the kind of witty and entertaining best of British film that we’ve been waiting for.

For a chance to win a double pass to THE CRITIC, simply email competitions@filmink.com.au with your favourite British film and why you love it. Most creative entries win.
