These Terms and Conditions apply to the promotion, ‘Chance to Win one of 40 prizes of $1,000’ (Promotion). During the promotion and in accordance with these Terms and Conditions, entrants can complete various Methods of Entry to receive entries to win one (1) of forty (40) prizes of AU$1,000 (each, a Prize, and collectively, the Prize Pool - see Draw and Prizes section). The total value of the Prize Pool offered under the Promotion is $40,000 AUD.
Information on how to enter, mechanics of entry and the prizes form part of these Terms and Conditions. Entry into the Promotion is deemed acceptance of these Terms and Conditions. If there is any conflict between these Terms and Conditions and any other published material, these Terms and Conditions prevail.
The Promotion commences at 12.01am (AEST) on 30 January 2025 and ends at 11.59pm (AEST) on 28th February 2025 (Promotion Period). Entrants are ineligible to participate outside the Promotion Period.
Entry into the Promotion and any offer of Budget Direct Insurance is subject to the Insurer deeming that the risk is acceptable in accordance with its underwriting criteria. Eligibility and Participation
For the purposes of these Terms and Conditions, an ‘Eligible Budget Direct Policy’ is defined as Budget Direct branded insurance policy for one of the following products:
Car (either comprehensive, third-party property, third-party fire & theft);
Home and/or contents (including landlord and renters insurance);
Pet Insurance;
Life Insurance (including either life, TPD, Trauma and/or Income Protection);
Motorcycle Insurance (either comprehensive, third-party property, third-party fire & theft); or
Roadside Assistance Membership
Customers need to meet the following criteria to be eligible to participate in the Promotion (Eligible Entrant):
be 16 years or over, where a person under 18 is only eligible to enter this promotion subject to parental/guardian consent;
be a permanent resident of Australia, or have resided in Australia continuously for six months or more on a temporary work visa at the time of participating in the Promotion;
not be an officer or employee of the Promoter and its related bodies corporate, or their immediate family; and
not be an officer or employee of any agents or service providers of the Promoter and their related bodies corporate, or their immediate family, directly associated with the conduct of the Promotion.
Participation
Eligible Entrants may enter into the Draw by completing one or more of the following Methods of Entry during the Promotion Period, to receive the corresponding Number of Entries into the Draw (detailed in the Table below), with each entry having an equal chance of winning a Prize. Each Method of Entry is capped at the Maximum Number of Submissions (detailed in the Table below).

For entry to the Promotion by completing a quote for an Eligible Budget Direct Policy, the following restrictions apply:
Eligible Entrants can complete a quote for more than one (1) type of Eligible Budget Direct Policy subject to the Maximum Number of Submissions (i.e., Eligible Entrants will only receive a maximum of one (1) submission for each type of Eligible Budget Direct Policy within the Promotion Period);
Eligible Entrants must not complete a quote for an Existing Insurance Policy, including any renewing policies.
Entries will be deemed accepted at the time of receipt by the Promoter. Entries received will be considered final by the Promoter.
Entrants must provide a valid email address when prompted during the quote process.
Entrants must use the same email address to provide consent in participating in this promotion and during the quote process to be eligible for competition entries.
Quotes made via third party aggregation platforms such as Compare the Market or iSelect are not eligible for entry in this Promotion.
The use of any automated entry software or any other means that allows an entrant to automatically enter repeatedly or otherwise tamper with the entry process is prohibited and will render all entries submitted by that entrant invalid.
Draw and Prizes
On 28th March 2025 (Draw Date), forty (40) Eligible Entrants who have entered into the Promotion within the Promotion Period, will be selected at random via electronic draw (each an Eligible Winner) to win one (1) of forty (40) prizes of AU$1,000 (each a Prize), which will be referred to in these Terms and Conditions as the Draw. The total value of the Prize Pool is $40,000 AUD.
The Draw will take place at 10:30am (AEST) (Draw Time) at Level 7, Toowong Tower, 9 Sherwood Road, Toowong, QLD 4066 (AEST) in the presence of an independent scrutineer.
The Promoter may request evidence of the validity and eligibility of each entry, including but not limited to the entrants’ photo identification or a valid State or Territory license. Eligible Winners may be asked to provide evidence of their eligibility and the validity of their entry and acknowledges and agrees that the Prize is not transferrable.
The Eligible Winners will be notified via their nominated email address within two (2) business days of the Draw Date with particulars of how to accept the Prize and how the Prize is to be delivered or collected. Each winner’s last name, first initial and postcode will be published on the Terms and Conditions page of the Promoter’s website at
https://www.budgetdirect.com.au/terms-conditions/competition-winners.html within twenty-eight (28) days of the Draw Date, and will remain on the Promoter’s website for no less than twenty-eight (28) days. All reasonable steps will be taken by the Promoter to notify the Eligible Winners.
Redemption
Eligible Winners must accept the Prize by notifying the Promoter via email and providing their current Australian bank account details, including the bank account name, BSB and account number, within thirty (30) days of being notified in accordance with Clause 18.
Once an Eligible Winner has accepted the Prize and provided their bank details in accordance with these Terms and Conditions, the Promoter will arrange for the Prize to be delivered via electronic funds transfer to the Eligible Winner’s nominated bank account within twenty-eight (28) business days.
The Promoter will not be responsible for any loss resulting from the Eligible Winner providing incorrect or invalid bank account details, and the Promoter has no further responsibility to the Eligible Winner once the Prize has been transferred to the Eligible Winner’s nominated bank account.
Unclaimed Prize Draw
On the Draw Date and Draw Time, the Promoter may draw twenty (20) additional reserve entries at random via electronic draw and in the same manner as outlined in Clause 16 of these Terms and Conditions, and record them (in order) in case
any of the Eligible Winners does not accept the Prize in accordance with Clause 19, or otherwise declines the Prize; or
the entrant is ineligible; or
in case of an invalid entry,
(Not Proceeding Entry).
In the event of a Not Proceeding Entry, the Prize will be awarded to the next reserve entry drawn. Any reserve prize winner must accept the Prize by notifying the Promoter via email and providing their current Australian bank account details, including the bank account name, BSB and account number, within thirty (30) days of being notified. If, after this process, the Prize has still not been awarded, or if an entrant drawn cannot be notified or has not accepted the Prize within the specified timeframe, the Promoter will hold an unclaimed prize draw in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.
A prize will be deemed unclaimed if:
the Eligible Winner has not accepted the Prize by email confirmation to the Promoter within thirty (30) days of being notified in accordance with Clause 19; and
despite the process set out in Clause 22, the Prize has still not been awarded.
If the Prize remains unclaimed, an Unclaimed Prize Draw will be held on 4th July 2025 at the same time, location and method as advised in Clause 16 of these Terms and Conditions (Unclaimed Prize Draw). The Unclaimed Prize Draw winner will be selected at random via electronic draw and will be notified via their nominated email address within two (2) business days of the Unclaimed Prize Draw with particulars of how to accept the Prize and how the Prize is to be delivered or collected and the Unclaimed Prize Draw winner’s last name, first initial and postcode will be published in accordance with Clause 18 of these Terms and Conditions, and will remain on the Promoter’s website for no less than twenty-eight (28) days. All reasonable steps will be taken to notify the winners of the Unclaimed Prize Draw.
Privacy Statement and Marketing Consent
The Promoter is committed to protecting Personal Information and agrees to be bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). The Promoter’s privacy policy is available on the website

It contains information about how entrants can complain about a breach of the Australian Privacy Principles and further details of how the Promoter will collect, store, use and disclose Personal Information can be found there. Entrants can gain access to, update or correct any of their Personal Information held by the Promoter by contacting the Promoter’s Privacy Officer at

Personal Information is collected in connection with entry into this Promotion for the purpose of facilitating access to the Prizes. If the Personal Information requested is not provided, then a person will be ineligible to participate in this Promotion. By entering into the Promotion, the entrants consent to the Promoter disclosing the Personal Information to any of the Promoter’s related entities, using the Personal Information to process and validate the entrant’s claim for the Prize, and to arrange delivery to the entrants (if eligible). The Promoter may use or disclose the entrants’ personal information for marketing or promotional purposes in relation to this Promotion.
By entering the Promotion, entrants acknowledge that a further primary purpose for collection of the entrant’s Personal Information is to contact the entrant in the future with information about the Promoter, including special offers, market research or to provide marketing materials via any medium including mail or any other form of non-real time electronic, emerging, digital or conventional communications channel whether existing now or in the future.
The Promoter will never sell an entrant’s Personal Information to other companies, however the Promoter may share an entrant’s Personal Information with its Australian and overseas related companies, promotional partners, servants, employees, agents and trusted third parties who may contact the entrant for their legitimate commercial purposes. Some of these parties may be located outside of Australia, including but not limited to Japan, Philippines, Singapore, South Africa, United Kingdom, Canada, Israel, and the United States of America and entrants understand and acknowledge that Australian Privacy Principal 8.1 will not apply to such disclosures of their personal information. By entering the Promotion, entrants acknowledge and agree that the Promoter and any applicable third parties may use their Personal Information in the manner set out in these Terms and Condition.
General
This Promotion is not available in conjunction with any other promotion or offer unless explicitly advised in writing, and the Promoter reserves the right to disqualify any person from receiving the Prize if any of the following occurs:
If it suspects fraudulent activity; or
for a breach of these Terms and Conditions; or
if it decides the person has not acted in good faith; or
for any false or misleading conduct of any kind.
If this Promotion is interfered with in any way or is not capable of being conducted as reasonably anticipated due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter, including but not limited to technical difficulties, unauthorised intervention or fraud, the Promoter reserves the right at its sole discretion or subject to any written directions from a regulatory authority, to modify, suspend, terminate, withdraw, or cancel the Promotion at any time without notice.
The Promoter reserves the right to substitute any Prize with another incentive of the same value, unless to do so would be prohibited by law.
All amounts referred to in these Terms and Conditions are in Australian dollars.
The Promoter reserves the right to request that an Eligible Entrant provides supporting documentary evidence of their identity (e.g. driver’s license, passport, birth certificate). If the Eligible Entrant fails to do so, or the Promoter determines the policy does not meet the eligibility criteria of the offer, the Eligible Winner will not be eligible for the Prize.
The Promoter and/or Insurer (including their officers, employees and agents) will not be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever (including but not limited to direct or consequential loss) including any theft, unauthorised access, third party interference, any technical difficulties or equipment malfunction, or personal injury (including loss of opportunity) suffered or sustained in connection with the Promotion, or the receipt, acceptance, or use of the Prize (whether negligent or not), except for any liability that cannot be excluded by law (including any applicable consumer guarantee under the Australian Consumer Law).
The Promoter does not accept any responsibility whatsoever for any tax liability associated, connected with or arising from the Promotion unless specified within these Terms and Conditions. Entrants should obtain independent financial advice regarding any financial or tax implications that may arise as a result of receiving the Prize.
Prizes are not refundable, reloadable, transferable or exchangeable and cannot be taken as physical cash or cheque, in whole or part thereof.
Any costs associated with accessing the Promoter's and/or Insurer’s website or call centre is the entrants’ responsibility and is dependent on the Internet or telephone service provider used.
If there is a dispute regarding the conduct of the Promotion, entrants agree that the decision of the Promoter will be final.
In the event that an Eligible Entrant wins a prize under the Promotion, the Eligible Entrant consents to the Promoter or the Insurer publishing the Eligible Winner’s name and postcode on its website or any other media, subject to the terms of any state or territory lottery legislation.
In these Terms and Conditions:
“Australian Consumer Law” means, Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth).
“Personal Information” means, for the purpose of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), information or an opinion about an identified individual, or an individual who is reasonably identifiable, whether the information or opinion is true or not and whether the information or opinion is recorded in a material form or not.
