Win a copy of AOTW "Sharon Van Etten & the Attachment Theory"

Sharon Van Etten & the Attachment Theory is the first collaborative album from the beloved New Jersey artist and her newly named band. Van Etten entered the studio without pre-written material, developing songs through improvisation with Teeny Lieberson (synths, piano, guitar), Jorge Balbi (drums), and Devra Hoff (bass). The resulting songs blend dreamy synthpop, disco, indie rock, ambient and post-punk sounds.

Opening track 'Live Forever' pairs pulsing synths with motorik percussion, establishing the album's electronic foundations. 'Afterlife' continues this direction with intricate keyboard parts and sustained vocals, while 'Idiot Box' shifts to driving rock rhythms. The album's range extends through the serene 'Trouble', the nervy jangle of 'Indio', and the funk-inspired 'I Can't Imagine (Why You Feel This Way)', before concluding with the atmospheric slow build of 'I Want You Here'. Across all these varied arrangements, Van Etten's poignant lyrics explore themes of love and human connection.
