Ane Ta Abia is created by the Australian Art Orchestra’s Artistic Director Aaron Choulai in collaboration with Papua New Guinea’s Tatana Village choir.
One night only, a special concert and film event. This is a rare opportunity to experience the Motuan singing style of Peroveta - from Choulai’s home village. Peroveta, born out of necessity during colonial times in Papua New Guinea, originated from Western hymns, but has transformed into a unique musical lexicon integral to Tatana's daily life.
Experience a night of ritual, uplifting voices featuring the 12-member choir from Tatana and the distinct sounds of Australian jazz and composition.
