Four years after losing his wife Becca (Kruger) to cancer, Karsh is still haunted by grief and has begun a complex relationship with her sister, Terry (also Kruger). When several graves using his technology are desecrated and the coffin camera feeds are mysteriously encrypted, Karsh’s company faces a crisis — and his personal connection to his wife is severed. Determined to find the culprit, Karsh embarks on an investigation that reveals a disturbing and far-reaching conspiracy.
Written in the wake of his own personal loss, The Shrouds is a meditation on mourning and mortality, blending Cronenberg’s signature mix of dread, intelligence, and dark humour in a chilling exploration of the boundaries between the physical and the digital, the finite and the eternal.
